Florida Keys Wedding Center — Attraction in Islamorada

Our experience with the Florida Keys Wedding Center at the Florida Keys Farm was mixed and somewhat disappointing. We had 37 guests and elected for the Everglades Package. Upon arriving at the Farm for our wedding, I was immediately struck by the venue's appearance. Unfortunately, the entrance to the property resembled more of a junkyard than a wedding venue, with large storage containers, yard clutter, and even a boat visible. This initial impression was starkly different from what we had expected and hoped for, setting a negative tone for the event. I say this about the venue under this review because Florida Keys Wedding Center recommends this venue and should already know what the property looks like.

Despite this disappointment, the Florida Keys Wedding Center did manage to deliver on certain aspects. The bouquets provided were beautifully arranged, exactly as we had envisioned. Additionally, the ceremony decor was impeccable and matched the photos and marketing promises, providing a lovely backdrop for our special day.

Communication with the Florida Keys Wedding Center started off well when we booked the venue well in advance. However, as our wedding day approached, there was a noticeable decline in responsiveness. It became increasingly challenging to finalize details and arrange a final walk-through, which added unnecessary stress and uncertainty to our planning process. On the day of the wedding, I encountered the issue with the dinner chargers provided for our guests. They were incorrect, and when I raised this concern, an employee handed me the phone with the owner on the line. The owner immediately dismissed my concerns, insisting that I must have misunderstood the decision I made about the chargers. This interaction was frustrating and left me feeling unheard and disregarded as a customer. In the end, the incorrect chargers isn't what caused frustration for me, it was the delivery of the message from the owner to me, the bride, who has a million things going on and who created a spreadsheet to help keep track of all the decisions that were made.

Our experience with the food provided by the Florida Keys Wedding Center was unfortunately disappointing. A few guests, including myself, found the mahi fish to be served cold, which detracted from its intended enjoyment. The salad, while promising, had limited toppings, which left it feeling underwhelming and lacking in variety. Additionally, the presence of mosquitoes flying around the food area was uncomfortable and unappetizing, which affected the overall dining experience. The paella, a dish that we were looking forward to, lacked sufficient seasoning, making it bland and not as flavorful as expected. Furthermore, I had expected that we would be served key lime pie from a local factory since we were in The Keys. Instead, the key lime pie was brought from Publix, still in the container and not sliced. This presentation was not presentable at all and did not match the local, authentic experience we had anticipated for our wedding day dessert.

Overall, while there were positive moments with the floral arrangements and ceremony setting, the mixed experience at the Florida Keys Farm left me with a feeling of disappointment. The venue's initial appearance and the challenges with communication detracted from what should have been a seamless and enjoyable wedding day.

BEWARE SELF GUIDED WEDDING ⚠️ We thought that we were booking a professional wedding service when we started this process; unfortunately, that was not the case. My husband and I booked the blue water package originally but we had expressed interest in another beach that was not included with that package so we upgraded to the seashell package so we could be married at John Pennykamp instead. I had asked for any additional information about the site to know ahead of time as we live in Tampa Bay about 6 hours away. I was informed that the site had been approved and I received no other additional information regarding this site. We were to be wed at the Far Beach at John Pennekamp. When we arrived our officiant, Mike walked us to the site. It had been wrecked by a hurricane about a year prior and held no resemblance to the photos on Florida Keys Wedding Centers website. Mike continued to walk us down to the “beach” that was submerged in seaweed and sea grass. He seemed to know that this area had not looked the same in OVER A YEAR. I felt shock and panic take over as everything I had in visioned was slipping away. Mike and the photographer Soshi suggested the other beach there at the park, Cannon Beach instead so we drive over and there are a lot of people and also no palm trees which was part of my vision. The other obstacle was the sunlight as it was shining so intensely in my face at 6PM I could not open my eyes to see. I feel like my wedding was a overlooked on many levels as I was given no updates about the site even though I asked. My photoshoot took place in a parking lot for the most part and our ceremony was pushed to the edge of the parking lot down by the water because that was the only place with enough shade so I could open my eyes. I have not felt this much personal sadness in my life since my cancer diagnosis in 2022. My husband and I waited until my hair grew back when we got married if I had known what “beach” was awaiting us we would have held off a little longer and rescheduled something else. We had 8 guests traveling to come to our wedding and I must say I was embarrassed of the site. I cannot believe this level of unprofessionalism displayed by this company. Either they knew they misrepresented the site or they simply thought it was fine after it had been wrecked. I feel like I have been betrayed, disregarded and worse I want to forget my wedding. We booked with Florida Keys Wedding Center for our Key West wedding in April. We booked the Flamingo package for 50 guests. I had begun by working with Jeff and found him to be very helpful and hospitable. I, then, worked with Valery who coordinated all of the details for our ceremony.

We went with the company's photographer that is included in the flamingo package, but booked extra time for him to come to our hotel for getting ready photos and a first look. Unfortunately, this ended up being an issue as the photographer arrived to our hotel about 25 minutes late which caused for some stress. We ended up arriving to the ceremony itself a few minutes late for that reason. Overall, however, the photographer was very nice to work with and took a ton of pictures for us. We, also, got them back just a week after our wedding which was also great!

The ceremony was beautiful. Conner was our officiant and he was great! The ceremony was not too long at all and captured our guests attention from moment to end. We particularly really enjoyed the sand ceremony portion. Our guests, also, really enjoyed the service. One problem we had though was that my bouquet and the flowers on the arch were pink, when I had requested with Valery that my theme was shades of purple. The other issue was that there was some confusion on my guest count leading up to the event. As I mentioned, when working with Jeff we had over budgeted for 50 guests and that is what I ended up paying for. I am glad we overbudgeted because we ended up having a lot more guests travel down for the wedding than we originally expected. Leading up to the event I had reached out to see if we could add on 10 more chairs just to be safe. For some reason though, the company had down that I only needed 35 chairs. We were thankfully able to bump the number of chairs up to 50 (like I had thought I originally booked for), but a few guests did have to stand as there were not enough seats. Finally, I did not realize this until after the ceremony had actually happened, but apparently our ceremony was set-up next to a tree that was being occupied by a homeless man. I did not mind that he had watched the ceremony and he was a nice man, but was just kind of something weird that occurred. The man, also, did not want to move out of the way for pictures so we had to work around him and his tree.

Overall, we absolutely loved our ceremony and wedding day. With the excitement of everything going on it was hard to focus on the small issues we did run into. I would definitely recommend Florida Keys Wedding Center to other couples and we absolutely...
