The music was chill, A little Jimmy Buffett, Regge and it made you feel relaxed and like you were in the islands. The owner Alex is amazing. Very personable with his guests. He is incredibly welcoming. You felt like you were family when you walk in there. Everybody was in great spirits. Eating delicious food at great prices so many options. The outdoor seating was plentiful. You have water views from every angle. If you want to rent a boat to go fishing, you have that option. The dock is loaded with options. Thank you, Allen for a truly exceptional meal a fantastic experience. And the wildlife that was at the dock ,between the sharks and the tarpon and the manatee were just icing on the cake. I must mention his Eco friendly plates and such. Most restaurants load you up with plastic this was not the case here. And from photos, I've seen where people had larger meals. Those meals are also on a more earth, friendly plate. Which everybody, especially in the keys with all the water should be using plates and such that breakdown. Read moreI grew up on the water, so in six decades I've become a pretty discriminating seafood eater. I have to say that this little place more than lives up to the hype (good reviews)! It's a charming down-home "shack" which might to a degree belie the very good food. It's an order-then-sit place, with great dockside tables, very pleasant (although it could get hot mid-summer days). Parking is generally decent although it can get filled with the other businesses near it.
The menu isn't huge but it's varied, with roll dishes, catch of the day, taco dishes, fresh shrimp or lobster dishes, and even hot dogs for land lovers. To me it's mostly casual seafood, lots of "basket" type fare but wow so good! I had the shrimp roll and it was excellent, plus a side of clams (fried) with some type of sauce that was delicious. My wife had the calamaris salad which was crisp and flavorful. This is more a "drop in" place rather than full-course higher-end seafood restaurant, but its casualness is attractive. The only small rec I'd have is for a fountain-type soda/water maybe DIY bar instead of cans or individual cups, especially as people might be thirsty from a day out. But no big deal.
The owner is tops, very animated and friendly; he bent over backwards making sure we got everything (he is also the server), good guy.
The reviews are accurate. This is a great little place to stop and have a great lunch or quick, informal meal with great seafood. We'll...
