Garden City Park-Lem Turner — Attraction in Jacksonville

The park is situated on a quaint lot, which is actually quite picturesque with nice trees and a little sidewalk around the perimeter of the playground. Basketball court is in great shape and looks to have been repainted with new nets installed recently. Most of the playground equipment is pretty worn, although there are a couple of new slides and other pieces. Two slides are missing, likely ones in pictures in other reviews that were damaged. Unfortunately the park is situated in a dilapidated area, which tend to attract questionable characters. In fact, my five year old found a large knife in a sheath on one of the play equipment. Grills are all rusted and or broken. This could be a really nice place even considering the surrounding area, but it would probably take routine police drive-bys to ensure that. This park is disgusting. Cigarette butts every. Had to clean up 4 used dirty diapers someone left literally just laying around the little children's playset so my 2 year old could play. Trash is littered everywhere. The water fountain had broken glass from a beer bottle clogging the drain and it was filled with standing water and rocks and leaves.
