First timer, excited to feel the vibes I’ve been hearing about Walked in around 6pm because I heard of their happy hour is between 5-7. I wasn’t aware if I sat myself or wait to be seated so i walked to the bar and looked at a menu. The bar tender greeted me them told me to talk to someone else to place my order and that person told me to speak back to her since I had questions about what liquor was used to make the drink I was considering. Starting to feel unwanted and look towards the door, but I heard the food was good so I waited. I placed my order and asked if I could sit anywhere, and was told “just sit at the bar with me”. No problem, I did. Ordered the oxtail rice and peas & a drink called liquid marijuana. After the bartender disappeared for almost ten minutes, phones ringing repeatedly going unanswered and me still without a drink. I started thinking I should have went to the gym instead. I almost walked out honestly. Finally i get my drink and was asked not to hold it against her. Cool, the drink was sweet over strong (like kool-aid with a shot of rum) but good overall . I would have ordered another but I couldn’t keep up with the bartender, she went missing again. it’s 6:25 by now but I read a sign that said the food is made fresh to order so be patient so I understood. Once my food came it was really good, oxtail was tender and the flavor was nice, (I wish it had more of a kick) but I ate it all. Once I received the check it was $46. They added 6% gratuity to my bill (for just myself) with mid service and no explanation. I probably won’t ever attempt to dine in again. Simply order to go if Caribbean sunrise on Dunn is crowded. But they’re black owned so I will always encourage people to try it out. Just know you’re going for food not service.

This is a Jamaican restaurant so although they do have a few other items, please not that Jamie food is the primary cuisine served. The menu is hefty, and yhete are plenty of things to choose from. So let me just state up front that I completely forgot to take pictures of the majority of my food. When I arrived I was starving. I hadn't eaten all day (unintentionally), so I wasn't even thinking about photos until much later. I did manage to get one photo of my Breezy Shrimp. They were delicious. If you need a reference, think Bang Bang Shrimp, but it's slightly different. Other items that were ordered were beef patties, rice and peas w/ oxtail gravy, and the wings. I wanted all flats w/ sweet and tangy sauce. Please note that there is an upcharge for all flats. All of the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I also ordered several rum punch and a Ja'Mosa, which is their version of a mimosa. Drinks were absolutely phenomenal and strong. The environment was nice, chil, and inviting. They had a good R&B mix playing in the background. All of the wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. The place was clean as well. It's located in a plaza so there PLENTY of free parking. They have karaoke on Wednesday, Happy Hour on Thursdays from 5 - 7 PM, and brunch on Saturdays. I definitely plan to return.
