My Capital Mall experience was not so great. We went to return a coat my cousins in California sent my daughter and we didn't have the receipt but we still had the tag in it and it was still brand new but they wouldn't take it back they said it was out of stock and they couldn't return it or exchange which I found the ridiculous because I've worked retail for years and I know that you can almost always exchange if you have a tag you can refunded even under a different button. Just put it under clothing, and then you can exchange for anyting. At a rate they do have wonderful clothes at Ross wonderful they're beautiful and well priced! But the mall itself seems to be dying ever since they took out the food court there is very little that interests me in the mall the diamond store Zales went out of business there's almost none of the stores I used to go to still there it's like they're all closing down and can't keep going and I believe it is because of lack of good management. Every store has got to have an excellent manager in order to thrive. A manager that does not do a good job can never expect their Associates to do a great job without any encouragement or appreciation also proper training is a must! You cannot just throw a new associate into the deep end and expect the Sharks not to get them! You need to thoroughly trained every associate as thoroughly as possible and demand that they leave their troubles at the door and keep a smile on their face the entire time they're on duty because that's part of what they get paid for. Yes I've been a manager for many years and also a Personnel director / recruitment specialist so I know all about how to run a successful business as opposed to how to see your business fail before your very eyes. I wish I could be in charge of some area of the mall in order to help bring it back to life because it is definitely...

Read moreOver the years, living in Jefferson City, MO I learned a lot about watching things change. When I came to Jefferson City in 2008, I was unimpressed with the Capital Mall. It was a lackluster strip mall at best. There were hardly any stores, and the ones that were inside were not the ones I was looking for. Well, after last Thursday evening, I had to eat a little crow. I went in with my wife and mother, my wife needed secret Santa gifts for work. The atmosphere was the first thing I noticed. There seemed to be life in the air, the store owners seemed busy and profitable. All in all the selection of stores and the atmosphere was like a rebirth for the Capital Mall in my eyes, but being the Holiday Season...I cannot give five stars... not without seeing what they got going on all the time now. Overall, I am highly impressed with resurgence in the Mall. I recommend we all go see what they got going on and try to help...
