Extra Supermarket — Attraction in Jersey City

IF YOU WANT EXPIRED FOOD COME TO EXTRA SUPERMARKET! The supermarket is very expensive and overpriced. I can find fresher organic foods at Whole Foods for less which is insane for purchasing Mediocre food. This establishment is taking advantage of this low income community with such high prices. The other locations are much cheaper. There is no selection of organic food everything is GMO and full of chemical. One green pepper is like 4$.

Every time I’ve shopped at this location I would bring home expired food. The dates on the shelf need to be checked. I also ordered fish from the meat section and I took home a bad fish with a big rotten hole. This establishment needs a health inspector . I find the employees at this location to lack basic product knowledge and customer service, for example asking an employee where items are, employees will respond with “I don’t know” which is shocking because I don’t work there so who could I possibly ask for assistance. Employees don’t wear proper sanitary gear for the pandemic and wear the same nasty gloves their entire shift and touch all...

This place is an absolute rip-off, and it’s disgusting how blatantly they take advantage of the neighborhood. A can of peaches that costs $3 at Acme on 440 is being sold for a staggering $7 here—more than double the price for the exact same item! And this isn’t an isolated case; nearly everything in this store is wildly overpriced, preying on people who may not have easy access to other supermarkets.

It breaks my heart to see hardworking people being overcharged like this, especially in a community where every dollar counts. There’s no justification for these prices other than greed. They know they can get away with it because of the lack of convenient grocery options nearby, and they exploit that to the fullest.

If you have the ability to shop elsewhere, please do. Go to Acme, ShopRite, or literally anywhere else where they won’t gouge you just for trying to put food on the table. Help your neighbors that may not have access to other options. Places like this deserve to be called out for their predatory pricing and lack of respect for the...

The whole supermarket needs an overhaul ASAP. If it is not in a can or packaged elsewhere, I don't buy it. And you must check the date on everything you buy. The fruits (if not baggage) looks lifeless. They have a huge fresh fish market and deli, it never smells fresh. The fish smells old. The deli meat always looks dry. God forbid you buy any meat or poultry out of here.(Just don't)They don't accept coupons, sales are rare and the prices are high. The best thing about this store is the security guards, they are helpful. The ginger had mold on it, I told a worker and he broke the mold off and put it back on the shelf. The entire case of ginger had mold.I was done. When I'm in the area, I will only go in if it's an emergency to get toiletries.

I was told that the hot food station is tasty but, I never had it. I'm sure they are using the meat out of this store, so I'll pass.
