I recently visited Lehigh Gorge State Park, and I was thoroughly impressed by the stunning natural beauty and the exceptional amenities this park offers. It has quickly become one of my favorite outdoor destinations. The park’s scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The lush forests, majestic waterfalls, and the scenic Lehigh River create a picturesque landscape that is perfect for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. The well-maintained trails provide various options for hiking, biking, and even just leisurely walks, catering to all levels of outdoor enthusiasts. One of the highlights of my visit was the Glen Onoko Falls Trail. The trail was challenging but incredibly rewarding, with spectacular views at every turn. The cascading waterfalls were a sight to behold and made for a perfect photo opportunity. The park is exceptionally well-maintained, with clean facilities and ample signage to guide visitors. I was particularly impressed by the efforts to preserve the natural environment while providing convenient amenities for visitors, such as picnic areas and restrooms.
The staff and park rangers were friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to provide information and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Their dedication to maintaining the park and assisting visitors is truly commendable.
Additionally, the park offers various recreational activities such as fishing, whitewater rafting, and wildlife watching, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy. The availability of these activities enhances the overall experience and makes each visit unique and memorable.

D&L Trail (Lehigh Gorge Trail) is a 24.4 mile lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania that features forests, mountains and river valley. This trail cuts through 4,500 acres of dramatic river gorge parkland along the Lehigh River on a former canal and railroad route. The bike shuttle offers the opportunity to do all 25 miles of the trail in a day. Reservations are needed ahead of time. There was white water rafting competition the weekend we reached the Rockport entrance. This section of the trail was almost completely shaded, flat graded, and traffic was moderate. The Luke’s Falls are located in the Carbon County section. An easy short walk on the trail from the Rockport entrance. The upper gorge is the prettier section but the lower part does have a scenic view while crossing a bridge over the river which was peaceful and gorgeous stop. Glen Onoko Falls and Lehigh Gorge Overlook Trail bridge is just 2.6 miles from Jim Thorpe. It ends in the parking lot adjacent to the train station in Jim Thorpe.
