Meraki — Local services in Jim Thorpe

My first and only review have even done for a business but felt so compelled due to the extreme dissatisfaction. If I could give less than zero stars I would. 8/10 daughter (age 17) had appt for highlights and deep conditioning. I made the appt for her so I know what was wanted. Three hours later ( our normal salon takes 1hr 45 minutes always). Her natural blonde hair was Carmel colored! Stylist knew that it was darker instead of lighter (we asked for highlights) but she said she does not have any natural light by her station so it does look darker there inside the building. She said “go out in the sun it will lighten up and then wash it many times.. it will get better!!!!!!!! Daughter left there and went directly to work (ice cream stand) where there are no mirrors. All the while when her hair was getting styled she kept turning her chair away from the mirror so she could not see it. When she returned from work at 11:00 pm and looked in the mirror it was terrible. The worst her beautiful hair has ever looked. There clearly was a mistake made by this new YOUNG stylist. I called first thing in the morning with my concerns. No one answered the phone but I left a message. 4.5 hours later still no one returned my call. I called again, spoke with receptionist Alyssa. She handled call very well by contacting the stylist ( who was off today!) Alyssa called me back after talking to stylist ( also named Alyssa!) who said the toner put on her hair made her hair darker (she put dark toner of her hair instead of purple toner for blonde hair- what our normal salon does!!) But then proceeded with a bunch or excuses about how if you don’t complain before you leave they will not do anything about it!! Though daughter did state it did not look how it normally does and was too dark and stylist told her to “ wash it and go out in the sun to lighten it!!!! Never had to do any of these “special things” after hair was done at other salon( they were closed for vacation or still would have gone there). Receptionist hands call over to owner. This is where a situation that could have been easily resolved went from bad to worse. Was willing to do nothing about situation. Was filled with excuses and unfortunately this and unfortunately that. Said we were not eligible for a refund (though I never even ask for one) because you have to complain before you leave the premises after that they don’t care!! But daughter did express her hair was definitely not right and was given a bunch or excuses before she left. Remember my daughter is a teenager and will not complain loudly and make a scene because she is not like that. She calmly expressed her displeasure and was given a bunch of excuses as to why it was not correct and basically shoved out the door because next appt was there. Correction needed to be done today (8/11) because daughter was to be on a plane checking into college across the country the next day and would not be back until Christmas. Owner would not budge with correcting the issue. My daughter has hair all the way down her back that she is now stuck with and ruined. Owner tried to say they were showed a picture of hairstyle and that we asked for a balayage. Totally untrue. That never happened. She then admitted she had my daughter mixed up with someone else!!The owner is not capable of handling complaints. Her main goal is to keep saying “unfortunately we can’t do anything” she is just trying to keep the money in her pocket and dishing out horrible customer care/ satisfaction. I would not take my dog here. Young stylists that don’t know what they are doing. I get people make mistakes but the way you go about correctly them in the end is what matters the most. Owner also stated the salon has “ mood lighting” so it’s hard to see what your hair looks like inside till you go OUTSIDE!! Ps normal salon charges $82 for the same service. This place charged $190!!!!!!! Go somewhere else.. Better job done...

I've visited Meraki Salon in Lehighton several times. My most recent visit rendered these results. Orignially starting with a dark shade and wanting to work my way to a light, bright blonde, I ended up with the most beautiful hair that I could ask for all thanks to my stylist, Alyssa B.

She and I discussed from the beginning, that it wouldn't be an overnight process and that to get the desired lightness, while still maintaining a healthy, strong head of hair, it would take multiple visits. I understood and was thankful and appreciative that she cared so much about the integrity of my hair which a lot of stylists that I've encountered in the past, have not. At one point throughout the process, I went off course, requesting a more golden tone. I threw her for a loop and still, she gave me exactly what I wanted while keeping the dimension, and without the breakage and straw like hair that often comes from lightening.

A few weeks later I sent her pictures describing where I wanted to take my hair journey next. She was excited and thankful that I not only told her what I wanted, but provided pics as a visual aid. She booked me and allowed several hours for my appointment which I loved because it meant that she had time to discuss the process, what she was doing, and make sure she was giving me a great experience all around. I was greeted with a smile, offered a beverage, and she was the polite, kind, friendly and professional stylist that I trust with all my coloring and hair care needs. And, for being so young...KNOWS how to color a clients hair like no one I've ever seen with such care, attention to detail and beautiful dimension.

At the start of my appointment, she pointed out that the one picture I'd sent had much more dimension than the other. To my untrained eye, they just looked blonde one just looked lighter. Once she pointed out the details that made them each different, I noticed why I leaned towards one over the other and opted for the multidimensional over the flat, one dimensional tone.

She put what seemed like 100 foils in my hair. As I watched, I saw how she was so precise as she sectioned off each piece and coated it in bleach, giving each section the care and detail it deserved. Being inquisitive, I asked about bleach, what the numbers in the volume meant, what toner does, and she explained it, while doing my hair in terms a non-professinal could understand.

Every time I've left Meraki, I've felt beautiful but this time had an exceptionally profound effect. Alyssa B. took a before and after picture and when she showed them to me when I was finished, I couldn't believe the after shot was my hair! While I never had any doubts that I would walk out with a bright, fresh color,  I was was in awe that this light, bright, gorgeously glowing head of hair belonged to me!!! And all thanks to my stylist (who I'm convinced has a magic wand up her sleeve to produce such beautiful results) Alyssa B.!!! I drive 40 minutes to see her and there's no one else I'll trust my hair to! Thank you, Alyssa B. for making a girl with little self esteem feel...

Let me first start by saying I have never committed to one hair salon. I have now been going to Meraki for a few years now. I first saw Brennan and she took my extremely thick but dry and home dyed hair and turned it around. Since then, I found Bailey. She is an absolute gem. I booked with Bailey because Brennan was all booked up when I needed to get my hair done and there were no hard feelings. Bailey has treated me amazingly and has always done everything I’ve asked and more. Just today, Bailey squeezed me in because I have my engagement photos and didn’t want my roots showing. She was more than happy to and so excited to be a part of the journey. Meraki is the only Salon I have ever been to where I can walk into and feel completely relax and feel like I can be myself. I don’t feel pressured to get what the stylist wants or feel like I’m being overcharged. I have only ever walked out of the salon with something less than expected once and it was my fault. They gave me the color that I specifically asked for and I ended up not liking it. When I expressed it the next day, both Bailey and Brennan worked together to get my hair better than ever with a different formula. I rave to everyone about this salon and I consistently get compliments on my hair. I’m getting married next year and I am so happy to say that Meraki will be doing mine and my girls hair and make up. I have nothing but the utmost respect for all of the women at this salon. And I have full confidence in their abilities.

In addition: I’m scrolling and reading all of these reviews, seeing the negativity because of one minor inconvenience or “bad” experience. These ladies (and mostly any stylist) are just as invested in your journey and hair as you are. I know Bailey (my stylist) is super invested in not just my hair but my life. She remembers small details that I would never expect her to. So to hold a minor inconvenience or mistake is absolutely...
