I wavered on giving a 3 or 4. I went to mccrite for rehab after a total knee replacement. The facility is nice and most people were willing to assist and give me time but the rehab facility is set up more for 80 to 90 year olds; not a 58 year old who could pretty much take care of themselves except for a few items requiring nursing staff assistance like getting ice for icing machine or restock of bathroom items. There were some issues with my pull cords not working or going off every half hour, frustrating some nursing staff who thought i was pulling it. Also, the bed was not set up right for the big mattress they put on it, which wasn't supportive for getting up. Finally, maintenance was called a week later, and it was fixed. There were workarounds to make it easier to all affected. Not one time during my 2.5 week stay did anyone change the bedding. Only 3 days in a row my second week did someone come in and partially vacuum. The food was good. However, no one told me that I didn't have to eat what was on the general menu they never gave me the menu until 9 days after being there. Someone was supposed to be coming to my room to ask me if I wanted what was on the menu, but that didn't happen. This was corrected about the 11th day and very quickly. My biggest issue was with the nursing staff. Those nurses with CNA backgrounds were phenomenal, but those nurses who did not have a CNA background would pass the buck, and I would have to wait sometimes 30 minutes or more for someone to come assist. In addition, on 3 nights, the same nurse fell asleep at the nurse's station. There were several others who were also sleeping, but it was only a one-time that I had seen them. This was brought to the administration's attention, though not by me but by an internal nursing staff member. Many times, people would do a quick knock and walk in without waiting for me to respond. I understand that working with 80 to 90 year olds who typically lived in a nursing home and may have issues hearing it would be sufficient but for me I asked for a little more respect to wait for my response since several walked in while i was naked.. I would recommend home health care for rehab and not a facility like Mccrite should you be at an age like me... still working and able to live...
Read moreMy grandma stayed there first rehab but her health declined rapidly so we had the house she and my grandfather lived in for 60 plus years to do private pay so that she could stay in the most comfortable setting we could give her as it was no longer safe for her in our home due to her health. The nurses were amazing and I never felt I was leaving her in bad hands. She passed away on January 3rd in the evening and my mother and myself were able to be with her along with the hospice nurse. We got her room cleared out within 3 days after losing her. Planned a funeral and Kansas City hospice was amazing. Unfortunately afterwards Mcrite has failed to file the insurance claims or if they have get them resolved let alone clue our family in as to why we are now at 5 months past her passing and why they are holding onto almost 8 grand that was paid to them in January with only three days of that month spent. We have tried repeatedly to get a hold of Cassidy Mcrite to resolve this issue so we can close this challenging time and move forward but ae met with nothing but ignored phone calls emails and letters. We have reached out to Department of aging to try to resolve this but most likely it seems we will have to hire a lawyer to resolve this issue. It's saddens me to think we have to resort to that when I had such respect and admiration for the nurses and doctors who cared for my grandma and once she passed they have refused to clue us in or even give us a copy of what insurance claims may be pending. I am severely dissappointed in the admiration especially Cassidy Mcrite who runs the Briarcliff facility and dragged out unnecessary such a difficult time for my family that seems to be headed towards not only losing my grandma an my mom's mother but a court case to boot. The nurses and doctors are wonderful the administration needs much more traimning on how to handle the their end which is why I am forced to give the facility one star. Mainly due to...
Read moreIf I could give you a zero, I would. We toured your memory care facility a year or so ago. We were told that later stage dementia was something you were capable of handling and, once there, my mother would never have to move again. So, we paid the money and put her on the wait list. A year went by without any contact from you and it is now necessary that she move to a facility. We contacted you and found out that there were two rooms available. My father jumped through the hoops after again meeting with your employee who told him he just needed to complete all the paperwork and have Mom go through an "assessment" so you would know what level of care to provide. The packet was completed and turned in but there has been no assessment made (aka you have not met my mother). Today, the day after the packet was turned in, the owner of the facility calls Dad to say my mother doesn't qualify to live at McCrite unless she undergoes a psychiatric evaluation to get heavier medication prescribed. Nice. Very sensitive of you. She isn't violent, just stubborn and proud. She doesn't need heavier medication just professional, compassionate care. If your answer is to heavily medicate her, she doesn't belong with you anyway. You should, however, work on your message to potential residents because the limitations of the care you provide was not made clear to us. No need to provide a phone number (I've read your other reviews) saying you'd "love to talk about it." We've already talked and you've made your position clear. I'm posting the review so others who might consider going on your memory care wait list won't be blindsided like...
