I went to the emergency room at St Joseph hospital about 01:00 am July 5, 2025. I was screaming in pain. The gentleman that was working that night jump right into action. Ask my name and DOB. Printed off my plastic bracelet and ask me if everything was correct. I was screaming from the pain he kept telling me to breathe slowly. He took me to another room explained everything he was doing while the other nerve were getting more information from me.
I was screaming on and off from the pain. Moving me around and everyone was so professional and handle me with care. They gave me some pain relief through the I-V. I was still screaming and shouting. The lady that came in to take the X-ray were very professional and explained what she needed to do to get a X-ray. She waited until I was ready and coach me to take deep breaths and breathe slowly. Every little movement the pain made me scream. She got the X-rays and another nerve came in and talk with me to let me know what was going on and the doctor will be right in. She kept telling me to breathe slowly and that my blood pressure is up because of the pain.
The doctor came in and after the X-ray and said nothing is broken and I asked him why I am in so much pain. My big toe was bend all the way up and he said it was out of place. He asked me questions about where exactly we're the pain. He told me this will hurt and he touch my little toe and move on down to the next tow. As he got closer to the big toe, the pain got worse. I told him it was much pain for him to touch it. He told me he will give me two shots to numb my foot and that it would hurt and burn. He was a 100 % right. One nurse told me to hold onto the rail with one hand and hold her hand with my other hand. The other nurse held my left feet and the doctor said breathes slowly and this is going to hurt and it did .
After medicine kick in he ask me to try and wiggle my toes. I could wiggle all of them a little except my big toe. He told me it not broken, but it out of place and he need to put it back in place.. he touch it very gently and the pain was still to bad. They gave me another shot in my I-V and the doctor said he had to numb it some more and he did. He waited for a while and told me what he was doing while he straightened my toe up and put it back in place. The pain started to leave my toe and I began to relax. I apologize to everyone for screaming and they all understood why I was screaming. The X-ray technician can in and took another X-ray and said my toe and my reflects were so much better. The next nurse came i and put a open face boot and sock on my feet and adjusted the crutches to my height. Another nurse came in and explained all the follow-up I needed to do. The doctor came in one more time to follow up and to explain what I should do over the next 24 to 48 hours and if I had and problems come back. I was waiting outside for my my boast to pull his vehicle up. The same nurse who admitted me were chatting with me and the military came up. He is one of my Airborne brother. He Thanks me for my service and I thank him for his service with a hoo-rah. Overall awesome job by the entire...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars. Absolutely do not take someone you love to St Joseph Medical. My grandmother went to St Joseph for stroke like symptoms. The staff did a CT scan, one neuro exam and ordered a routine vs stat MRI. My grandmother did not get a M RI until 36 hours later. My mother and aunt were lied to about their being an neurologist on staff at the hospital. The hospital has a Tele health neurologist vs an in house neurologist. Three days later my grandmother still did not get the appropriate treatment or the proper evaluation or work up for her condition. Then issue upon discharge is that we the family had to arrange and provide my grandmother with the necessary items she needed upon discharge. My grandmother had a significant change with her mobility within 24 hours. I explained to the house supervisor I was okay with her being discharge to home, but PT needs to come back in and evaluate because it took two people to her to get into the bed and to the commode. The house supervisor flat out refused and continued to refused. So the hospital felt it was okay to discharge her without knowing if she could safely ambulate to the bathroom or how much assistance it would take to transfer her. That is unacceptable. I asked to speak with the CNO and their Quality Director and again this person flat out refused and had the audacity to call security. I explained to the security officers that I am not a threat but I will continue to advocate for my grandmother in a peaceful and respectful manner. The delayed imaging, lack of communication, absence of timely neurological care, and a discharge process that disregarded patient safety—raises serious concerns about the standard of care and patient advocacy at that facility. Addendum on 05/06/25 I left a message on their patient advocacy line provided. The failure in the discharge planner to come back and ensure the correct information was sent to the home health agency cause another delay in care. Again if the house supervisor would have done what was requested that could have...
Read moreI had to take my sister to this ER and I was disappointed. I thought this hospital would be better but no it was not!! If I could give zero stars I would but the only reason for the star is because the front desk nurse was nice. The doctor was dismissive she was talking to me and not my sister like she was not there. Then she wasn’t giving any information or telling us what happened or what could have caused it. My sis asked her what could have caused it and she shrugged her shoulders and said I don’t know. And proceeded to continue with what meds are sent to the pharmacy. Told her about another issue and she said oh yeah I see it over here and we said no it’s over here and said oh it’s nothing. It was a whole lump but it’s nothing. She leaves out and my sister was not done asking questions. Didn’t give any information. And when wanting her to come back in she didn’t or took too long my sister was just ready to go. When leaving asked for hot pack they already gave her before told her they don’t have those and they can’t give her one due it can burn her. Wait…do you have them or not and just can’t give them to us?! Said we can have a ice pack but not a hot pack because they can’t be liable for it burning the skin. Um ice can burn the skin too. Just say you don’t know where they are or something other than clearly a lie. Didn’t want to give her pain medicine before we left either. She’s in a lot of pain and didn’t offer it until I went out there and told them she needs something before we go home.
But I would not go to this hospital again or recommend this ER. People are going thru things and the last thing you want to deal with is disrespect from the staff.
Also they broke HIPPA guidelines. Had her information sitting out on the desk. Didn’t put on none of her armbands because they were sitting out on the edge of the desk. I had went up there to ask and seen it sitting there with no one...
