I hate writing negative reviews and rarely do so but this experience just wasn't right. Heading to Starlight Theater, we stopped at 103rd & State Line for dinner. We Googled their menu and decided to go in. Since it was busy, we had a table near the bar and it felt like there was some confusion as to who was supposed to serve us. We did place an order and the 1st thing that stuck out were the fried mushrooms.Seriously, I was unsure if a medication I was taking numbed my taste buds because for the life of me, I couldn't taste anything between the mushrooms and the milk-like ranch dressing. I had my gf try them and sure enough, it wasn't me. These things had zero taste to them. If I were blindfolded, I would not know they were mushrooms at all. No one ever came to see if we needed our drinks refilled until we asked someone and with the apps and salad we had, we had to ask for silverware. When dinner arrived, I again found myself with a sandwich with practically no taste to it. It was a Philly cheese stake with onions and green peppers on a bun that was stale at the ends. This was just getting silly. My gf ordered the Italian steak sandwich which she described as hamburger with Marinara sauce on it. She didn't finish hers either. Had anyone come to ask how things were, we would've said something but no one did. I think we spent $60 that would've been better spent at the McDonald's across the parking lot. Since we don't live near Southside, we had no reason to go back and give it another try. Even if it is a bar, the food just wasn't happening for us. That isn't to say that we didn't see others enjoying their dinner but I saw no one else with what we ordered. Had I, I might've actually gone to ask them if they were experiencing...
Read moreMy husband and I have dined in only once, but have ordered food to go a few times. I ordered their grilled chicken sandwich which is really good, but my favorite is the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich which has a slaw on top it's delicious. I messed up once by ordering a Cesar Salad and the cook screwed it up so bad( i didn't think that was possible, but it is) i asked for the grilled chicken to be put on the side because i didn't want my lettuce to get soggy on the ride home from fresh hot chicken sitting on it, once i got home i discovered that they failed to toss my salad in ceasar salad dressing not so much of a big deal but went to find the dressing it was mia, so i called and went back for the dressing came home to put it on my salad only to be disappointed by the taste of what was an epic fail of a dressing it tasted like straight mayonnaise with no other ingredients. My husband let me eat half of his sandwich and i called up there and Kate told me to speak to the manager the following day who was very sweet and knew exactly what i was talking about, i don't believe they had all their ingredients to make the dressing and the chef wasn't supposed to serve the dressing that way. I still rated them as a 5 because they rectified the situation. However i would say it's safe to order bar food and not a salad from a bar and grill! Honestly beer and salad don't pair well. Great staff...
Read moreAWFUL service. Met some friends there on Sunday night at 6. It was seat yourself. We sat pretty close to the bar. It’s like we were INVISIBLE and no one was assigned to our table. NO ONE EVER CAME TO OUR TABLE THE ENTIRE NIGHT. Do they not have wait staff in the bar? A very large group in the bar right next to us got waited on. We ordered drinks at the bar to get started. Well, I guess we need to order our food there too. I stood at the bar so long, I started to order online. Just as I was about to put in payment information the bar tender helped me. I guess she thought we wanted it to go because it came out in styrofoam. I had to watch for it coming out of the kitchen and ask for it. Then we got the wrong food. Chicken tenders instead of a pork tenderloin sandwich. She did promptly bring a pork tenderloin sandwich for me to take home. We had to scrounge for napkins, salt and pepper. Very disappointing! I was embarrassed that I suggested the place to my friends. Too bad because I do like the pork tenderloin there but it certainly isn’t worth all the trouble. This place might be better to seat people and only seat those...
