Pretty cool beach but the little parking area fills up quick and extends the walk to get there as vehicles park further and further down the road. We got there somewhat early so got a decent spot. The walk isn't too bad but it's steep and you should have some decent shoes. We had our 4 and 2 year old with us and our 4 year old daughter walked both ways no problem. The waves are pretty rough tho and can cone up the beach quite a ways. Is more of a beach for walking and relaxing on shore. Not overly crowded but beach is fairly big even if there is alot of people there. Worth the visit if you're on the north shore.

Easy short trail leads to a beautiful big beach that is pretty much empty. It is downhill on the way to the beach but it can feel pretty steep walking back, safest to go when it’s dry since it’s just a dirt trail with some rocks, be careful not to slip! The view on the beach is gorgeous and worth the short walk. Keep in mind that it’s not advised to swim on this beach as it’s is not safe, the waves can get pretty big and the current is very strong. Overall it’s a beautiful spot to come, relax and soak in the Kauai sun!

Wow! This beach is incredible. It’s quite the steep hike in and out but well worth it. The waves are massive this time of year but incredible to watch and wade in if you’re a strong swimmer. The sand bank on top of the lava rocks was breathtaking. We cancelled some other plans to stay here longer. A monk seal hopped up to join us for an hour or so. Please if you visit, keep your dumb dogs on a leash or close by as we witnessed a monk seal/dog fight. If your dogs don’t have recall, don’t bring them to the damn beach.

Growing up hiking in mountains I can say that the hike down is not bad. It is a bit steep and a little rocky with exposed roots but I've been in much much worse situations. The beach itself is beautiful. The surf was pounding the day we were there. The type of waves that could send you to the hospital. There's a lot of rocks on either side and one outcropping in the middle.

On the walk down there's a sign that says to stay off the rocks or you are next. It couldn't be more right. At certain times the surf blasts the rocks and would easily knock any adult off and hurt them or worse drown them.

The water is incredible and clear. It has a bright deep blue color except where the waves are breaking and in the wash. It turns a very light turquoise color. The tropicbirds fly overhead swooping down to land on the cliffs. My wife and I loved this beach and don't let the name fool you. It's no secret. Get there early...

I ran here from kilauea taking kauapea road through a gated community and down to the beach. I like to skin dive but the waves are so rough it was no use to even wear my goggles. Visibility is nonexistent too so I just cooled off a bit and got out. It is wild how rough and often those waves come at you. This beach is huge by Kauai standards and I could see a bonfire beach party going down here with no ease. I also enjoyed running up the stairs from the beach. There are many homes on the cliff side and each has their own private stairway down to the beach. There are many ways back to kauapea road but each are blocked by property gates. I did not venture further down to the lighthouse...
