There is interesting history here and that part is interesting. However, the site look like it's not taken care of except mowing. You can walk around some of the fort on foot, but there are plenty of places that are nearly impassable due to the brush and undergrowth. And getting onto or into the fort walls was prohibited. That's fine but the place could be so much better. Signs with things to note while walking around as opposed to the single sign at the parking lot. Access to the entire site is a must. Even if you don't like history, appreciate the fort's strategic location that gives good sightlines out to sea and up river. There were some homeless camping outside the walls, but I never felt bothered. I'd say if you have a spare hour, just stop by and...
