This is a small yet modern hotel. Excellent location if you plan on spending sometime in Kokeāe State Park. There are some nice beaches nearby and for any birder a visit to the water bird wetland will be very rewarding. We were able to check in early since the room was ready and the management upgraded us (without us asking) to a room with a full kitchen ( besides a large refrigerator and a microwave we had a full size electric stove). We had a small issue with the tv after reception was closed. I called the number provided and management got back to me quickly. Those are the reasons for giving them an A for costumer service. The room was spacious and everything was very clean. The kitchen appliances were new. The Ac was a bit noisy but it worked well (this is not to be taken for granted in Hawaii-many properties do not have ac or if they do it may not work well). There is also a fan over the bed if you do not want to use the ac. The king size bed was very comfortable. The place was pretty quiet and we slept very well. WiFi worked well. Plenty of towels provided. The hotel is close to stores and restaurants and next to the hotel is a fishing pier that is a great place to watch the sunset over the ocean. We enjoyed the more relaxed atmosphere in Waimea and were very satisfied...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreShannon, Karen and Pappy will take wonderful care of you. Shannon helped me with game-planning before I arrived. Karen was a treasure-trove of insight once my feet were on the ground, and Pappy kindly helped take care of me when I hit issues with my trip. (She also cares for the most amazing mango tree that blooms in the yard all year long, keeping fresh, tree-ripened mangoes on the ready for guests). When you stay here, you arenāt treated as a number but a fellow human, with relaxed kind hospitality. People stop to connect and it was lovely.
From the upstairs rooms, there is a gorgeous view of the ocean. Most other guests were military contractors or there for work so it was very quiet (early to bed and early to riseā loved that). The rooms were clean, bed was very comfortable. Good pillows.
If you get the chance, hike in Kokee, visit the museum and lodge (helpful people) and watch the sunset off the road as you head back down to town (over the mountains and water).
Waimea is also the most historic town on Kuai. Thereās a chance to learn about the history and melting pot that this island is.
Oh! And plate lunch at Da Booze. The mahi over salad was AMAZING (included micro greens on top). Got a side of her Mac salad (not as ātraditionalā but I needed the veggies. You can get it the traditional route on rice. Iāve heard that will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is really a motel just off the main road through Waimea. The location is good - ideal for Waimea Canyon, and only a short trip back down the road to the other centres for South Kauai.||||Our room was spacious, clean and well-equipped. However we had very poor sleep a couple of nights of our five night stay due to a combination of noise (especially the local cockerels) and air-conditioning which was far too loud to run at night.||||The lack of daily housekeeping is a nuisance, especially as this purports to be a standard "hotel" and priced as such. There's also pretty much no service from the staff - you're very lucky if you catch anyone in the office, and they failed to address a request from us to provide different pillows. The check out time is 11.00, but they don't open the office until later than that - ridiculous!||||Although our room had a table and a couple of chairs on a shared balcony, there's nowhere to sit in the sun should you wish to.||||This is probably a reasonable choice for a short stay, but I'd avoid it as a centre for a...
