It’s always a mediocre experience at this place. I’ve attended multiple graduation events here, including my own. Unfortunately, it is the local “go-to” place for graduations. I’m not sure if that is due to scarcity of venues or comfortable prices. Some things that they could improve on with all the money they make from the countless of high school and colleges that host their graduations here are: clean and update the restrooms, hire more friendly, professional, and courteous staff, invest in some professional signs to clearly and legibly denote the sections of the seating area and the sections of the building, improve parking experience by hiring competent staff to direct the flow of traffic; expand the parking area to accommodate the number of maximum guests, and make the parking lot and building more accessible to the disabled community. This venue serves its most basic purpose, but it doesn’t go beyond that. I wish I would’ve been more invested to take pictures, but I was just trying to get in and get out. Thanks...
Read moreWe had a fun event here at the FIRST Bayou Regional Robotics Competition. The volunteers made it such an easy event from beginning to end (unrelated to the venue, unfortunately). The food staff needs customer service training, but the food wasn't terrible. Prices were a little better than at other venues, at least. They ran out of fish on Friday far too quickly for it to be during Lent and during a time when the people they were serving might be ready for that new option that day. They should've anticipated the demand better. The women's bathrooms only had a couple of stalls with locks, and the floors stayed wet to the point it looked like toilets weren't just leaking. They were overflowing. An EVS person mopped several times a day rather than try to fix it. The walk room the parking lot was an odd angle around the side of the building but fairly convenient compared to other venues. The bus system for picking up the kids flowed...
Read moreSecurity for high school graduations needs to be much better! Far too many out of control people disrupting graduation ceremonies. In spite of the fact that there are inspections of bags and things brought into the center people are somehow still able to smuggle fans air horns and some and some things that are supposedly banned. None of those people were thrown out for being overly disruptive. Tends to take away some solemn nature of a graduation ceremony. Very frustrating because sometimes parents can't even hear their own child's name called when they go to receive their diploma. Pontchartrain Center has to do more in terms of security and removal of those people that turn what should be a pleasant experience into a mockery of what the graduation ceremony...
