As a collector I want retro mom and pop stores to thrive cause that breed competition and a better standards. Still if you're the only store in NO then that can only mean you can have little to no standard when it comes to selling old games. Finding this place in google was confusing cause it was placed in a parking lot, next to a movie theater, and the pictures were show at the back of that theater.
First I though that the store was some where outside to compete With Just 4 play. No I was wrong it was literally the same store same location just now renamed. Maybe it's a new owner I could be wrong. The last time I been to that store was two years ago. Just 4 play had a reputation of being overly pricey on any somewhat collectable game (it was) charging you at or above Ebay or (place online retro video store name here). At the time I bought 2 games it did not work. Tried to return it would not take it back and told myself never again.
Armed with this new knowledge was does this new and improved store has to offer. Nothing new same look same location even the placement of the games are the same from 2 years ago. So yeah it's pretty much the same store with a new sign. How about the games are they better about there prices well yes and no here why. Some of the games that are around twenty and below are at a little blow Ebay and if you took off the shipping, but what makes up for it is the drive here, that depends on where you live. Do not bother with other games after that. Any of the good titles are marked around 1.5 what you see only online double if its game cube. Also how they keep all those game is really disheartening. All the game are all lined up next to each other a long rod attached to the wall. that can cause damage to the disk any video game store knows that so they store their games is paper slip case to protect them from scratches. This store should know better then that.
Final conclusion should you come to this store. Yes if your starting out and just want to get some common titles to built your collection. No if it's rare titles you are better off going online and bid on Ebay or whatever online store you find better. For me maybe I would come back to check it out once in a while to check for other games but really that's not happening for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally expensive and not a great variety of stock, but the staff and owner are super friendly!
I feel that the prices are a little too high to be fair. If you compare their prices to most eBay/online sellers, theyāre mostly 20%-50% higher in some cases. I have understand that theyāre a brick and mortar store, but I donāt know if that justifies a price hike.
It seems like they donāt have a lot of variety in stock. It could be possible that something happened recently to there stock, but I didnāt really see a lot of variety in my opinion. I also felt that seems pretty scattered. Some PS2 games were on a certain side of the store, while others were across the store. Some games were in the glass cases, but I almost missed them since itās covered in games. While the variety is fine for casually passing by, Iād recommend that you donāt get your hopes up if youāre looking for something specific.
On a positive note, I would definitely say that Spawn Point has some of the best service Iāve ever seen at a game-shop. The employee was extremely kind, and when the game I bought didnāt work, they offered to fix it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlright lemme tell y'all. This is probably the biggest break I've gotten since moving here to Louisiana. I'm used to my old school gaming place where I was able to get my older generation console fix. I was pleasantly surprised by this new jewel of a store opening. Not only do they have a nice selection of older consoles and games, but they also sell adapters for the older games to hook up to newer things.
Also their service for repairing older consoles and controlers are bomb! My special edition hey you pikachu N64 is my baby and he fixed him up brand new and is even ordering the part for the controler. How he fixed it was by cleaning it properly and tested the system to make sure it worked. He also charged reasonable prices.
The man who owns the store is very knowledgable and is willing to help you find what you need. His store is a breath of fresh air for me. He also sells collectables as well and custom systems and a little bit of the custom systems to build yourself. 10/10 will be bringing more business to him for a long...
