OVER-REGULATED!!! Please read all of the rules for Splashdown Cove VERY CAREFULLY before you consider taking younger children (under 8) to this facility. There is nothing worthwhile for them to do beyond a toddler splash pad. I brought two almost 6yo’s, both strong swimmers for their age, only to learn they were not permitted to be in the lazy river or the main pool (they could both touch the ground) unless they were within my arm’s reach. This policy makes no sense, particularly given that they are not even permitted to use USCG-approved water wings to be out of an adult’s arm’s reach. These children spend hours playing at our local pool under my supervision but without ever needing adult intervention. When I inquired about the policies, the Aquatic Director was condescending in telling me I was “behind the 8 ball” for not reading through the rules before we came, so I’m hoping to spare anyone else such disappointment and horrid customer service.
Even for our bigger kids (ranging 8-12), there was not much to do that reflects the cost. I read other reviews that referred to slides (plural), but there is only one. The lazy river is small and had only 5 inner tubes. The low supply of inner tubes makes for a ridiculously long wait while the kids that did have them took their time to try to savor the experience. If you want a true water park experience, go to Silverwood’s or Asotin County Family Aquatic Center. Splash Down Cove is a glorified community pool that is insanely overpriced for...
Read moreCame with my kiddos since we were passing through. When we first got here staff at the desk was super great and seemed happy to help. Once we got to the outdoor splash cove things felt a little different. Lots of life guards out keeping an eye on things which as parents we were excited to see. Well , my son who is a very tall 5 year old (already over 4ft tall) and a great swimmer was told he couldn’t swim in the 3 1/2ft area or do the lazy river without an adult. At first I thought he miss heard them so my husband check with one of them. Sure enough….them were the rules. For the price and restrictions put on kids on what they can and cannot do it just seemed odd and not worth it for us. It also felt like we were being stared at while sitting and watching the kids in the kiddy pool area. I had a life guard tell me that outdoor food wasn’t allowed in the area we were in. I asked what food she was referring to. She then pointed to the capri suns and liquid death we bought at their food stand… she then went, “oh you did…I didn’t know we sold those here…. I don’t know just some weird incidences combined that made it not so enjoyable. I understand safety is big in this type of environment but I think the next time we are thinking of an out of town swim trip we will stick to Moses lake or...
Read moreLooks to be a pretty wide selection of 'under one roof' physical activities for the family. Place is a bit of a rabbit warren in its layout, but not so badly so it would challenge quick familiarization. Reminds me strongly of health complexes I've seen in Scandinavia. Certanly pricier than any other gym I've typically attended, but gives you a lot more options for your kick in. Staff constituted of youngsters, and 'light touch' assistive. They'll help if you ask, but otherwise seem inclined to stay out of your...
