Grew up near here, about a mile and a half, we always knew this as Witches Tower... All of my neighbors called this Witches Tower.... A beautiful piece of architecture, when I was around 12 years old (decades upon decades ago) roughly my brother and sister took me up here, back then you could still get inside the front door.... From what I remember there was a stone staircase that wrapped around the right side of the Tower, it had a metal handrail if I remember correctly, the steps for very large and made of stone, once you got to the top there was a beautiful view across the golf course and if memory serves me correct there was a hole in the center part I remember my sister telling me not to go near it she would have been 19 at the time. Used to be a big party place where teenagers would go, my brother had party to hear more than once supposedly there was also motorcycle gangs that used to party there a lot according to my mother. Also heard rumors of rituals being performed by various different covens or cults.... I think this was built in the 1920s as a lookout tower or a replica some say it was built in the 1880s but I doubt that... Supposedly also there was a lightning strike here that killed several people inside of the Tower either back in the 1950s or 60s heard a lot of rumors that people committed suicide from it or they fell off don't know if it's true.... Used to belong to a paranormal group and investigated this back in 2007 took some photos, I got a weird feeling there at that time but don't remember that feeling earlier when I was much younger..... I noticed some photos of paint on it the paint looks ridiculous.... They should preserve it in its original natural state.... But I remember walking up that staircase and looking out the Islets I think they are called the side windows it's pretty cool like I said this was probably 45 years ago... We always wanted to know what was inside that hole at...
Read moreOn a trip to Washignton D.C, we drove through Ohio. My son wanted to go visit, so we did a short detour off the interstate. It's location is a little weird, but the fact it was built in 1930 as a lookout for the Country Club, its position up on a hill, it served its purpose. The doorway is filled with concrete. Due to the fact that people were constantly breaking open the metal gates that were placed over the opening. It does have a spooky vibe to it, and there is one account of a recorded death, the girl wasn't suppose to be inside the building, in 1967. Not sure why they decided to only paint the bottom of structure, but the rock is scorched from the lighting strikes. There is a nice easy pathway with newly built railings leading up to it. We didn't see any ghosts but it would have been cool to...
Read moreThis is a really cool part of the local Dayton area and Kettering history. It used to also be called The Witches Tower by many. Pretty much all the stories you hear are true! It used to have a metal door and it used to be open to the public. Then they started chaining the door and people kept breaking in...so eventually they concreted the door. This did not stop people from getting in as part of the concrete door was broken out with sledge hammers at least once that I know of and there are other ways people have managed to get in. I've been inside this tower a handful of times. I've also been run off by the police a number of times over the years and further up the road at the Patterson monument that ncludes the horse. Definitely a little spooky but...
