I was disappointed when I visited Far Beach. I'm wondering how it can get the rating that it has. The sand is thin, more like a park that had some sand sprinkled on it. The water was clear but only sand bottom for about 10 yards then seaweed and other debris. The beach is only about 50 yards wide if that. I was expecting a beach like I would see along any coast..with the beach area so small it's crowded if you have a few dozen people. The people working at the concessions we kind and pleasant to speak with. The beach is labeled free but it costs to get into the park where the...

The actual beach was swampy and did not look like an actual beach. The smush of the seaweed was all on the shoreline. We decided to walk north of the parking lot where the water was a bit cleaner but make sure to use sandals to walk on the sand since this is not an actual beach as the rocks will hurt was you walk. Swim at your own risk. The 2 star comes because its a nice place for snorkeling. We saw some 6 inch size fish and some wild life such as a huge tarantula, iguanas and some coral wildlife. This is our first time in the Keys and it was...

This is a small beach on a protected-by-a-barrier-key body of water so you will not usually have a lot of big waves coming in. We visited on a partly rainy day so there weren't a lot of other people. We were there specifically to snorkel and we had a lot of fun hovering near the mangrove roots and looking for wildlife. Lots of fish, crabs and an iguana. We also found a 5-foot barracuda that swam lazily up under us (my kids climbed onto my head.) We...

Beach was okay overall. It’s super small I wouldn’t really consider it a “beach” per say. We did not see wildlife unfortunately. The mangrove trail was closed since it was destroyed from the hurricane so be prepared. Beach water wasn’t too cold but it did smell a bit near the water. If your coming for a nice walk then I recommend this place otherwise just go to a bigger beach.

Not what I expected from a beach on the keys. Very small beach area with a few benches and some nice palm trees that provide the only natural shade. While the water is very clear, the beach is surrounded by mangroves and there was quite a bit of debris/muck on the beach. If you're going, bring a stocked cooler and an umbrella and get there early.
