The water was too choppy to see the reefs and the water was too muggy to see much of anything on the ocean floor. It was a bird watching and tree tour. My family paid $300+ to go and right before the tour starts the guide says "If you came to see the reefs you're welcome to get a refund as the water is too choppy to see them." That's something we should be saying before we buy not after. At that point we already waited 3 hours to tour so we decided we'll go ahead. Waste of money. It was a glorified boat ride. Literally couldn't see anything out of the bottom of the boat and we slowed down to point out 3 bird species and a few mangrove trees. Should have canceled the tour all together, or not have had it full price, and definitely should have warned buyers before we paid not after we wait 3 hours for the boat ride that the most interesting part of the tour IS the reefs and we won't be seeing them. As first time boat goers we had no idea that the only other thing to see is birds and trees if you can't see the reefs. Had we known we would have walked. Very...
Read moreA unique experience even on a cloudy morning. We saw tons of cool fish and also a few turtles. We did not ride the boat on the webpage because it is being repaired, but the boat we used still worked well with four smaller windows in each corner of the ship. Maria was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. She has a marine biology degree and is a longtime resident. This is very kid friendly and accessible for those who have physical limitations. Captain George was skilled in getting us where we needed to be and helping us find turtles.
The company was very diligent and called me to make sure I knew they were gathering at the pier. One warning - bring anti-motion sickness medicine if you are prone to that problem. I took Bonine and didn’t have a problem (although am prone to it) but others did. The leaning over to look through the glass with the boat lilting from side to side made...
Read moreI've snorkeled reefs in Roatan, St. Thomas & Key West. I wanted our young kids to see the reef and the fish without swimming that far out quite yet. I wasn't expecting to see much, I anticipated it may be cloudy and so far off it's hard to see. NOT THE CASE AT ALL. I was amazed at how clear and close it all was. We saw amazing reef formations and tons of fish from the comfort and safety of an air conditioned cabin. The day we went it was usually windy and there were 2-4' seas. The boat was rolling a fair bit, but I hear that was unusual. Even so we could see clearly! The guides were wonderful about pointing out the fish and other wildlife...
