This was a very interested place to visit. Take the time to walk around and read the information. Great place to get out of the car for a half hour or so. Great shops to browse in close by. Plenty of history.

It's a really nice area, shaded, places to sit & eat or read a book, walk around downtown, very interesting. I walked around the block & really enjoyed looking around. Good area to explore, will revisit.

Nice view into the history of the East Texas oil boom. When most people think of oil and Texas, they think of the deserts of West Texas, but the Richest Acre Park shows the prevalent abundance of oil found in the Kilgore area. Before oil was found here the population was slowly dwindling. The Richest Acre marks the spot where there most oil derricks in one acre were placed. The park was created to bring back the Kilgore skyline at the height of the boom. No trip to Kilgore would be complete without a visit...

Kind of a site to see!!! Hard to imagine so many oil wells squeezed on to one acre during the Kilgore Oil boom. One was even drilled through the Terrazo floor of a local pharmacy I believe it was. The pharmacy is no...
