I have come to frequent this gym for a bit over a year now and have supported far and long before that. Corporate liaisons that visited the area also visited nearby, related businesses to uncover information and perspective as related to the gyms possible success if built. Fast forward to today, I enjoy my visits to Crunch Killeen, for the most part. The establishment is maintained well as far as cleanliness and viable, working equipment. Locker facilities are decent although they rarely offer the sense of smell a break from typical scents. An air freshener goes a long way, even a periodic spray of scent eliminator would be welcome. The staff is generally great, warm, welcoming and lively in their delivery of service and encouragement. The entire experience is almost free of disdain if not for one important aspect and expectation. The gym should never foster an ioda of condescendence, and unfortunately that's what I recieve, with almost each and every encounter with one, troubling employee. For the sake of privacy, we'll refer to them as Schmancy. It is regrettable that the employee holds a higher position within the Killeen business as it can be determined that their approach to some gym members and others is highly biased, judgemental, and upon a meeker individual, inducing of anxiety and discomfort. For longer than a year, this individual has failed to deliver even one genuine greeting, with great precision to not do so with myself in particular. This is a management level employee, failing to deliver basic courtesy and kindness, opting each and every time to choose passive aggressive behavior, vibes, and social output. It's lacking and disappointing in a way that even the most verbose would have difficulty explaining in due fashion. I have come to expect nothing better of this particular individual so much that is casts a pall on the immediate moment I am within their presence as they seemingly go out of their way to avoid interaction, let alone redeem themselves of such an apathetic nature. It's disappointing as a member of the fitness club, it's disheartening as a member of the human race. Even with the possible publication of this review, I expect it shall be made known to the beforementioned, and I will half heartedly expect either ill advised retaliation, or a meager, unintentional and forced apology. Either way this develops, I will hold my ground, and my opinion, as both will never be swayed by the likes of simple bullying. People, will never go out of business, and that is a concept that escapes some of the managment within this particular facility. Do better. I also request the "owner" account not respond to my review, as you have had a YEAR to do so. Again, don't be...
Read moreWell, i signed up for a 7day guest pass here at crunch. The young lady was not enthusiastic at all. I could barely hear her explain the equipment and areas of the gym over the extremely loud music. As she toured me through the relaxation area she walked quickly without actually taking me into the rooms. And when i asked about the heated standing machine she seemed to be irritated that i had questions, even when i asked about the protocol for using this area i never got a straight answer. I proceeded with my workout and finished and went to the desk to ask if i could try the heated machine. She told me that it would be 15 minutes and when i asked if i needed to come back up or if she would find me she never answered and walked away. So, another young lady asked if i was waiting on something else i told her and told her that the previous young lady was not personable or friendly at all. Her excuse was that they were overehelmed and short staffed. A really big reason that i am thinking about changing gyms is so i can have childcare. When i asked the young lady who gave me a tour about childcare she just pointed to the room and read off the daycare hours. As i was leaving i asked a young man if i would have to be added to a waiting list for daycare or will it always be available when i come in. He then explained that sometimes there is a wait for childcare because of capacity rules. As i got ready to leave he then JOKES that if childcare is not available that i could just tie my children up out front!! Being, not only black, but also an older black this was not acceptable at all. These young people need to be taught some manners and professionalism! I will have to weigh the pros and cons of joing this gym. The equipment is grade A, but the attitudes are horrible. They do offer several classes that will provide some different options for workout. My son talked me into trying here because he swears by this gym instead of planet fitness. Planet fitness doesn't offer a lot of the things crunch does but they are always friendly. When it's dark out they watch the women until they are safe inside or in their cars. They greet you with a smile as you enter and as you leave. I am going to use this pass at crunch to see if at other times in the day the atmosphere will be better. I arrived at 0900 maybe a lot earlier i may get that all around great service that I'm...
Read moreNothing but trouble with Crunch. It's the sound of your wallet and your very soul if they get a-hold of it. Why do only used car sales people have a reputation for being slick? I got a membership plus a training package. I thought I was signing for 3 sessions a week, and because of some special signup was getting a 4th session for "free." I thought I was signing up for 8 sessions every two weeks. What I actually got was 4 sessions a week, billed bi-weekly ($360 or $720 a month). And billed as a service, whether or not those sessions are used; ie. the 2nd trainer I was given only ever met for 3 times a week! The 1st trainer I was assigned to, so all that talk with sales two about gym and fitness goes are just wasted, because they aren't loaded on to the actual person doing the training!!) never showed up for my first session. As a married pfc, my funds are extremely limited to begin with. If I pay you to show up and train, I expect you to show up and train! I should have cancelled then and there, but the Manager, Nancy, sweet talked me into another trainer, and offered me 3 free sessions as compensation. When I relized what actually happened, I discovered what many other negative reviews have already stated about issues with cancelling. When I went in and explained my situation to Manager/Co-owner, Nancy, the first thing she said, was, "You signed an agreement." While true, if that is what you lead off with, then you have terrible customer management skills!! I paid $720 to cancel my "agreement," even though it's a bi-weekly service and not by session, I now have 11 "free" sessions. This experiance cost me over $1000. The gym equipment is good, and the trainers, if they show up, are good. I pray other people do not repeat my mistake! Go someplace else! Very very bitter experience! Will update as...
