I was delighted when Higher Collective opened in Killingly. I made the effort to go on opening day October 7, and made a purchase so I could take advantage of the 20% discount on all future purchases. I went back a few days later, and made another purchase. When I checked in at the front desk, I inquired if I was part of the Founder Club and was assured that I was, and I would receive 20% off my purchase, and that was all they said. I made my purchase, chatting it up with the cashier. I never paid attention to my receipt until I got home, that is on me, but since I already asked at the desk I did not think I had to keep asking for a discount, which quickly seems like begging. I have since learned you have to “remind” the cashier at Higher Collective to give you a 20% discount. I wish the gentleman that checked me in, had mentioned that to me when I asked him if I was in the system. Not only did I not receive the 20% discount, I paid 70% MORE for the same Select Squeeze product than I would have at Cura Leaf. The exact same size bottle and flavor; .68 fl oz/20ml. $34 at Higher Collective and $20 at Cura Leaf. Guess I will be still driving to Mass, I simply cannot justify paying 70% more, to save 20 minutes drive time. Shopping at Higher Collective will cost $56 more for 4 bottles of this one item. (Of course if you are a Founder and the cashier remembers to give you the discount it will be less). Bonus, I get to shop at the Market Basket when going to Cura Leaf. I wish You all the best, very nice people work at the Killingly location, the review simply is for pricing and company policy. Also you are unable to get a live person to answer the phone, you are prompted to...
Read moreUPDATE: when I looked at the menu and saw the percentages were less than 1% and asked the bud tender why she told me "that is Delta 8 percentages but that if I look at the description of the buds it has the percentage written in there" you are very own employees said this to me. And regardless since I spent close to $300 there and only the mint smash was worth anything, I stand by my recommendation to just drive to a different dispensary. Don't insist on shopping local at the expense of quality.
So it took me three trips to realize that these guys sell delta 8 weed (mainly because of their poor menu setup and lack of transparency, not to mention most of their staff can't answer basic questions). It does not get you elevated, even the stuff from curaleaf is high testing but when you smoke it it's full of chemicals and snap crackles and pops because of a bad flush. Switched to a different strain by a different grower, and while it didn't have a bad flush, it doesn't get you elevated. it doesn't even help with the anxiety. It didn't help me go to sleep. And when you talk to the staff they act like they know exactly what you're talking about and are not surprised at all. Yet they don't offer any explanation. I actually had to call another dispensary and talk to them to find out that higher collective is selling weed that is heavy in Delta 8 and not so much in Delta 9. They are not transparent, there are no notices anywhere explaining this to anybody. And the prices are way higher. Not sure about the edibles or any of the other products but the flower itself is not worth any money...
Read moreI usually go to the Vault in Webster bc they have great prices and it’s only about thirty minutes away but I was trying to support a new business in the area.I really felt dissatisfied in the overall experience. It seems that the focus on decoration of the place is expected to make up for the lack of customer service and high prices but unfortunately half deflated balloons wasn’t enough to fully draw me in. I’m used to a more pleasant dispensary experience but was met by a very inexperienced team of employees. I will say that it has only been open two weeks but it’s so impersonal. While you wait you stand in complete silence, it was like pulling teeth trying to get any information on different strains and the prices are offensive. It also has a wide variety of tax guesses. When you check online at home taxes are as little as $.26 but in store on the tablets it doesn’t give you a clear answer either. I was genuinely shocked to pay $95 for two eighths of weed that was pretty weak. I probably won’t go again but I do pity the people who go here without doing research on what a good dispensary...
