I would like to echo the sentiments of the precious reviewer and elaborate. We also had friends with us and tried to attend the Jeff Dunham show. To say that the Silver Spurs Arean handled the event incompetantly is being kind. It was the worst mishandling of any show i have ever tried to attend. I say attend because we never even made it onto the parking lot.
We were one block away on 192 at 6:45 for the event due to start at 7:30. At 8:00 we made it the one block and were almost due to turn left into the parking lot when the kindergarten cops decided to shut our lane down completely. They forced all traffic to go down 2 blocks, turn around and get in the back of the line entering the facility from the opposite side of the street. At 8:00 we were now 20 minutes away from the lot. Seeing how slow the cars were moving trying to get parked we knew that it would be at least another half hour to get parked and in the facility. We finally gave up on the chaos and left.
I cannot comment on the parking or arena since we never made it inside either. The previous reviewer does a great job in mentioning how the incompetance continued all the way through the event management.
I am a tourist that has attended a number of shows all across North America. Even though there were inconveniences i always managed to get to the show on time.
In the spirit of cooperation i offer the following suggestions to your management so hopefully this fiasco will never be repeated.
-understand that your obligation does not end with the sale of the ticket. Your job is not only to book the talent but provide an entertainment experience. When people show up on time they have done their part. It is your job to get them in....no one elses.
-understand that you are running an 8500 seat Arena, not a stadium or international airport. There is no reason patrons need to show up 3 hours early in order to check in.
-understand that you cannot move traffic. Immediately get ahold of Disney or Universal. They have no problem in this regard and maybe they can give your staff some much needed pointers. They also don't use police.
-if you need police assistance insist that they have at least 1 hour of traffic control training. To call them keystone cops would be to imply a level of intelligence and professionalism that was not certainly not on display. They were sticking it to the drivers so badly they would be better employed as proctologists. In fact if they are in your employ the humane thing would be to send them to the hospital. There a colonoscopy could determine the exact depth of their head. A surgeon could remove it and hopefully reattach it to their neck. They could begin their retraining directing wheelchairs at a seniors facility. Honest to God watching them work was more tragic than a Lance Armstrong interview.
I cannot comment on the delays in the parking lot or in the Arena since i never made it there. The previous reviewer identifies that the incompetance extends throughout all levels of your event management.
At this point there is nothing that could get me to your facility.....regardless of who is playing. Even if Jesus Christ starts a comeback tour and you are lucky enough to book him i believe it would be easier to simply miss the show and go to hell. At least there we could meet face to face.
In closing i would like to quote a very wise "individual" that you deprived me of meeting ..........Have a nice...
ย ย ย Read moreI'll start out by saying I don't want to be a downer. I'm sure this venue has lots of great experiences, and others reviews certainly show that, but my experience was not as good due to what I think was more people visiting than what the venue is used to supporting. The people working in the parking lot seemed a bit lost.
We went to the arena to attend a comedy show we had been looking forward to for months. The show was was fantastic! But that's not what this review is about. Getting in we expected there to be traffic for a rush of thousands of people trying to get to the same show at the same time. The problem was the cops there were horrible at supporting traffic and controlling the traffic lights. I approaced a red light and stopped at the crosswalk -as most people do, just before turning right. I was looking left to avoid hitting the cars coming through the intersection when a cop tapped on my passenger side window telling me to go through the red light. I was about to roll down my window and yell at her but chose to sit at the red light till it was clear. Once we got off the main street the traffic was super slow to move. Slower than than expected. After a super slow process, we got closer to the arena when there were people standing near the driver's side window taking money for parking fees. No where was there any indication of a parking fee, including the multiple emails received, or on their web site. Was only $10 but there was no signs indicated any fees. After I paid I started driving a little aimlessly since nobody was providing directions. One woman with a radio from a couple hundred feet away came running toward me yelling, "Go down that way!" while waiving her arms around. "Toward the light!" About 100 yards away at the end of a dark dirt lot was someone waving their cellphone around with the light on. No orange wand. No other cars. Don't think they even had a safety vest on. Once parked we walked a distance to get inside. We arrived inside about 5mins after the scheduled start time. Found our seats and got settled. Restrooms were clean and they had decent food selections, but that where the 2 star review came in. The venue was only about half full when we first arrived. 30 mins after the scheduled start time the comedian came over the sound system saying, "We have been delayed because parking here sucks." 60mins after the scheduled start time they began show. I'm sure others appreciated the show being delayed since half the audience was stuck outside but this was pretty bad. Leaving wasn't much better. It took us about 45mins after show was over to get out of the lot. I couldn't swear to it but I think there was only 1 single road/lane in and out of the massive dirt lot we were in. Again the community service officer controlling the traffic light from their car was not doing well. All other traffic on the 6 lane road was clear except our single lane out of the lot was severely backed up. ...so no. Not happy with the facility or location. But it was a...
ย ย ย Read moreMy family and two friends attended an event last night at the Silver Spurs Arena. This was simply the WORST experience I have ever encountered throughout years of going to events in both Canada and the USA. We waited for 1hour and 20 minutes to enter the parking lot, missing approximately 30-40 minutes of the event due to the inadequate foreplanning of parking requirements. To make matters worse, we passed several locked gates which entered into the parking area and would have alleviated the obvious traffic issue--but these gates were never opened, essentially funneling traffic into two entrances of the facility. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE MISMANAGEMENT OF THIS EVENT. And believe me, we were not alone in our frustration/anger. There were literally hundreds of people scrambling over a 'field' parking lot attempting to get into the stadium over 40 minutes late due to no fault of our own---my family and I left 40 minutes to arrive from a restaurant in Kissimmee to get to the facility which was only 5 minutes away (or so we thought). Upon entering the facility, there were no seating ushers in sight. We attempted to find our seats in the dark on our own. Unfortunately, there were people sitting in our seats. A security officer needed to be found at that point to force these people to vacate our seats. This took an additional 10-15 minutes. WHERE WERE THE SEATING USHERS? This was a complete waste of time, money, patience and endurance. When one considers MLB & NFL games, this was a comparatively small event yet it took four times as long to get into our seats. Simply...
