Byrne & Carlson Chocolatier — Attraction in Kittery

I live up the street and often take my dogs for a stroll along State 1. We pass Byrne and Carlson on our walk, and last Friday was my birthday. I felt deserving of a special treat-and I can't think of anything better than indulging in fine chocolates. Not only did I have my dogs with me (and not every business accepts them indoors-especially food related) and they welcomed all of us in. The owner, I surmise, was making chocolates and came out to chat about dog stuff-which was lovely....BUT...the real treat here is not the kindness and welcoming atmosphere-BUT the AMAZING chocolates. Can I tell you....I've been all over the world, inclusive of Belgium....and well, I'm a goner. Chocolate is my life. I can't go a day without eating it. Addict! Heck YEAH! I am going to have to come up with make believe occasions to stroll in and get some more......they are truly...

I attempted to place an order on line and found that they only accept orders by phone or FAX. When sometime later (mid December) I called to place an order during regular business hours and got an answering machine. I left a message and when I received no reply, I called back twenty-four hours later and was told that they were no longer taking Christmas orders because they had as many as they could fill and that I should have known this because it was on their website. It was not on their website at the time I originally checked and there was no reason to re-check the website. The information was also not on their answering machine. The product may be excellent, but I doubt that it would offset the unpleasantness of the service. I will shop...

This has the best chocolate found yet in the world. My husband is a huge amateur connoisseur of chocolate as he enjoys sampling chocolate wherever we happen to travel to. On our trip to Maine and New Hampshire we found Byrne and Carlson and knew this was a special chocolatier. The ambiance of the store is beautiful. It is a tiny and delicious center of dark and milk chocolate along with truffles and other decadent chocolates. No matter where I am currently living I always order a box of chocolates from them annually and the shipment is easy and the chocolates arrive perfect and in a gorgeous arrangement. So either if you are in town or out of town Byrne and Carlson chocolate is something you need to try...
