I bought a new 2020 Nissan Versa in December and got the lower trim level which did not have Sirius XM or Apple Carplay. It had been several years since I needed a custom install done with an aftermarket unit and really wasn't familiar with the audio installers in the Knoxville area since I have only lived here 4 years.
I called around to several places including a big box store. Most of them all told me my car was too new and there was no dash kit available and more-less told me it wasn't possible to upgrade my car with an aftermarket head unit. That was until I dropped in American Radio on my way home from work one morning.
Let me say you won't meet or find too many businesses out there that actually pride themselves with their customer service. Curtis and Darren were great;! they walked outside and took a look at my car and said yes we have a dash kit and can do this no problem Curtis was very knowledgeable in helping me pick out a nice Pioneer head unit for my car and he set up an appointment for me.
The install went great! I did have to wait a few hours because yes my car is new and they had to make some phone calls to their dash kit supplier and accessory supplier to make sure everything was done right, Let me say while I was waiting, Curtis offered me food and something to drink and another employee there even offered to let me use her vehicle and go and get something to eat. How many businesses would go out of their way like that for their customer?
The final result of my installation was excellent! as you can see in the photos ,my audio unit looks as if it came factory installed whenever I bought the car. They were also able to get all of the steering wheel controls, etc to integrate and work! I could not be happier! also this is not a business that sells you something as complicated as a new audio unit and sends you out the door with no support; Curtis told me anytime there was a problem or a new software update available for my system to just stop in and they would take care of it with no appointment needed! that is just excellent service and they really do go the extra mile!
If you are as particular about your car as I am do yourself a favor and trust these guys to do the job! they will get it done right the first time and should any problem arise they will stand by their work. I could not be any happier and could not recommend these guys enough. They are excellent and will get my business anytime I need an audio system installed,. That being said, I am, by nature and profession, extremely particular when dealing with local businesses (with retail product and service industries). Often, I lose faith in local or small businesses to offer a great product and/or service, for a fair price. Curtis and the guys at American Radio deliver on all of these. If you want to find the lowest price possible for a product they sell, shop on Craigslist, Ebay, Amazon, etc....and good luck. If you want to comparison shop them against other business, call them and ask what they charge for _? and they will gladly tell you. However, if you want quality advice, recommendations and a proposed package based off of your individual wants/needs (not what someone wants to sell you)...do yourself a favor and just drive over to the shop, walk in and talk to Curtis. I did this 3 times before I pulled the trigger on a complete system & installation plan he recommended. That was more than enough for them to initially get my business for their product. What I didn’t expect afterwards was the level of service that followed. Not only was the quality of the installation flawless, their willingness to stand behind their work went beyond the product...they stand behind their service, until you are satisfied. You won’t have to take up your issue with Pioneer, Rockford Fosgate, etc.....just let Curtis know whatever issue you have. I had a fairly demanding request for my installation....and although it didn’t initially meet my expectations, Curtis and Darren offered to completely redo the installation plan until I was satisfied (at no additional charge). After picking up my vehicle today, for the second time, (which BTW sounds amazing)....I am most impressed with the business that Curtis runs. This is not “Best Buy” or some other retailer that will gladly take your money (or not), and could basically care less if they do future business with you or not. Nor is this an installation team that has kids working there, or anyone for that matter who is just doing this for “a job”. These installers are professional, meticulous and obviously enjoy doing their work....and they are damn good at it. If you’ve read this much into my review....continue to read all the other reviews and you’ll see the same things written over and again. Quality product. Professional installation. Read moreCurtis and his staff are simply amazing - at both locations. My husband and I wanted our better aftermarket radio removed from a car that we were trading in at a dealership and put into a car that we were getting as a replacement. It was a two-step process since the radio, satellite radio receiver, etc. had to be removed during the first appointment (with an alternate radio re-installed to suffice for the dealership trade). Then, a second appointment was scheduled for the install of our provided radio equipment (along with some new goodies from Curtis also - including upgraded speakers and a rear backup camera addition). The installer ended up staying way later than business hours to complete the job, which was totally above and beyond. Considering he was working within an incredibly tight space (in a Nissan 370Z), we can certainly appreciate every effort that was taken by this guy. Both guys actually did an excellent job installing aftermarket radios into both vehicles related to our trade deal. Steering controls work as they should in both, along with all radio features (unlike Best Buy). We will NEVER make that mistake again. Curtis and his staff are wonderful. They go beyond what you even ask for or expect, and they have the best knowledge of various products and proper installation in Knoxville. They have outstanding customer service, and they don’t mind explaining any radio features that you may have questions about. Anything you need from American Radio would be well worth the money spent.
