Worst $51 I've ever spent! Let's begin. One I am an Ebony American Female (so "African American". My grandmother is Irish and African American. My hair texture is thick and curly (medium to loose curls 4C for those that know what that is). I called to schedule my appointment with Posh and the young woman who answered my call took down my information. I informed her "I am black - African American" is what I said. I also asked is there a SKILLED hair dresser who specializes in doing African American hair at the shop. She told me oh yes and ensured that the specific hair dresser she was scheduling me with does African American hair and has been "trained" to do so. She then quotes me $28 which I thought was weird, but I thought hey since I've moved to Kokomo a few months ago I've been receiving some great deals having moved from an expensive city in Illinois (NOT CHICAGO). Anyway, I get to the shop and I'm early but still I am seated in the chair about 10 minutes after my appointed time. No biggie. When I get to the chair the hair dresser asks me "what are we doing for you today" which I felt was odd because it's like shouldn't you know? So okay I tell her I called in for a wash, style, and trim. She proceeds to say okay well first we're going to flat iron and trim you. Which I felt was unsanitary, but I thought okay hey whatever works for you; you're the "specialist". Once she finishes trimming my hair she asks me do I want curls or to just be straightened. Now I'm sitting with a baffled look because I know she just asked me what I was there for. So I tell her hey look I need my hair washed that's what I was just telling you. She says oh well the girl who scheduled me didn't schedule me enough time for a "soak out" at this point I'm annoyed and disappointed because all week I had been excited about finally going to the hair salon. Well she says let me see if I can get someone else to do your soak out. She ends of doing the soak out and it was a terrible job. I still smelled product in my hair and the way she was washing my hair felt effortless. I was on the verge of crying but I tried to keep my cool and just go along with it. Thinking you never know it may turn out well. So then once she finishes she hands me over to another girl who was next to her and says she will be doing my blow dry and straighten. I said okay. The girl proceeds with the blow dryer and flat iron for my hair. Then the girl who is flat ironing my hair asks the first woman to help her with the flat iron. The first lady takes the flat irons she used on my hair that wasn't washed and puts it on my now washed hair. I'm devastated at this point but I'm thinking hey it could be better just let them finish. Don't complain. I try to remain optimistic and be understanding of others because I know new things can be a challenge but the more I sat there the more devastated I'm becoming. Once they are finished I noticed only the second girl who did my blow dry and flat iron went to the root of my hair while the other woman who was bragging about someone who had trained her to do "people's hair with my hair type" hadn't even went to the root until the end when I'd mentioned it to the other girl. When I get to the counter they say okay so it is an extra $20 for the soak out. Now when I was talking to the girls about how the receptionist didn't put me down for the right thing I said well I'm sure it won't be $28 so how much will it be. The girl said about $10 more for the soak out not too much. So that's what I'm expecting to pay. At the counter the woman says $48 plus some kind of tax which came out to $51. I feel like I got scammed and my hair has never looked the way that it looked this day after leaving ANY SHOP I'VE EVER WENT TO & THAT'S THE HONEST TO GOD TRUTH. I felt so down and low and I still feel bad because the hair did not even last the entire day. Granted it was drizzling outside however, I only walked from the shop to my car (head covered) then from my car to my house (head covered) and is still no excuse for my hair looking frizzy & dry. DO...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe only reason this establishment is getting more than one star is the very first stylist I visited (Jacklyn) was very nice and did a wonderful job. My second and final visit was a disaster in every direction. This time was with (Tia).
I scheduled, or rather thought I scheduled an appointment for the following week that I called. The phone was answered by a younger gal who sounded less than enthusiastic to be working and had absolutely no customer service skills. Moving on to the day of my appointment, I had been running a few minutes behind so I called out of courtesy saying I was on my way. The receptionist answered stating I wasnāt even on the books for today. Again, not really surprised considering the immaturity shown from the first call. This receptionist was very accommodating however and worked me in with but couldnāt guarantee it would be with Jacklyn.
I arrived and Tia, my stylist for my appointment came out. Everything from then on again was a circus but not the end of the world. I was there for a simple wash and trim. Tia then informed me they had a special going on for a special conditioning treatment that was $50 and another treatment for $25. She asked if Iād be interested in either one. I replied, no thank you I would just like a normal shampoo and conditioning. Iām a mother and I work outside I donāt have a need for anything special. Tia then told her assistant to do the ABC? I was shampooed conditioned, which felt entirely normal. Tia was very friendly and talkative. I had shown her a picture of the trim with layers I wanted she seemed very accommodating. They finished blow drying my hair and asked if I wanted a style, I was getting ready to work outside and really didnāt need anything else but they used the straightener which was fine. She gave me her mirror and the cut was not what I had really requested so I continued to ask for more layering and framing. Tia eventually became tired of this I believe and told me my layers were not possible because my hair was thin and I wouldnāt like it. In my ignorance I said whatever you think and proceeded to checkout. To my surprise, instead of the $45-$50 I had spent with Jacklyn, my total was $83⦠I shouldāve then and there questioned this but instead I was stunned and paid.
My mother who had gifted me this haircut later called and questioned this charge. The receptionist informed her Tia appeared to have āaddedā in a conditioning treatment per my request. This was false so my mother requested compensation on this which both Tia and the receptionist both denied. The receptionist did say she would have Tia call her and discuss the matter which again she never took the time to do.
Petty though it seems I scheduled another appointment with Integrity Hair today to get the layering I wanted. Anna was spot on with my request and I love my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have really thick long curly hair and itās a big job to take on thatās for sure! Iām amazed by posh salon and day spa!!! They get me in and first off itās a very nice place and all the staff and hairdressers are so nice and they have great enthusiasm and a positive attitude no matter how much hair you have lol š...., however, I have had some bad experiences at other salons around here. I tried almost all of the salons here out before I found posh and they didnāt come close to posh at all! I mean some where better than others but they donāt hold a candle to posh, to me that is. What I find so amazing here at posh is that I feel so welcome and like Iām part of the family basically! The environment is always so upbeat and happy totally accepting of everyone! Oh and another thing, they are all so talented with hair itās awesome š!!! They make me so comfortable and happy and they never fail to give me exactly what I want!!! Oh and probably one of the absolute best thing about them is the impeccable speed you can achieve!!! Iāve been to a lot of different salons as I said before and some of them ended up taking 6 hrs and they still werenāt done they still had to cut it better and come back the next day to finish it?!! Also it cost me 235.00?!!! Usually it costs around 133 or 174.00 never above 100.00 at all the other places I went to ulta salon was by far the worst salon ever! Iāll never go back there again! They were arrogant and totally rude!!!! They did a half ass job on my hair, they didnāt give me what I wanted and they kept me there for 6 hrs and then ripped me off!! I think you guys shouldnāt ever go to ulta salon unless you want to get ripped off and charged way too high for the lack of service out there! Posh made me change the way I think about good hair salons and hair dressers! They never fail to make me so happy š they treat me so good and make me feel at home and among freinds with their warm welcoming.Everytime I go there I know Iām going to love my hair!! Theyāve got so much talent and speed Iāve had quite a few different hairdressers out there and they all are amazing with hair! Iāve never had a bad experience yet and Iāve been with them for like 5 years now! They make me look so gorgeous every time I go and it only takes them 2 maybe three hours at the most! When Iām done I canāt stop looking at myself bc I adore the way they do my hair!!!! šÆ I recommend posh salon and day spa over any other here in...
