La Mesa Branch Library — Attraction in La Mesa

This is a decent little library within the SD County library system. The librarians are all more than helpful to look up any titles you may have questions about and also to look up if they are available for transfer. However, one thing that I don’t particularly care for about this library is that it seems that they heavily rely on e-books to offer various titles that I wanted to read, and the whole point of me going to a physical library is so that I can borrow a physical book. It would be great if they, or the San Diego County library system, expand their offerings more or possibly have a borrowing agreement with the citylibraries. One time I had a book transferred in, and it came all the way from Modesto, which seems silly to me because I know that they have that book within the city libraries’ catalog. I'm giving this library three Stars because of two reasons. The restrooms are in need of some deep cleaning, and vents! Also, I think many would agree that they close too early on the weekends. For those who go to college and have kids and can't afford internet at home, it's a blessing to have access to a library when campuses are closed. However, this library does have some good benefits; good staff, security guard on site, I can order books online, use the computers without a long wait, sign up for a class, buy books for my son at a great price, and stay out of the heat! I love this library. I read many complaints about the noise, especially the little children. I am proud of the young families, who come here, and get books, who engage their small children, with story time, instead of letting their computer devices, baby-sit their children. This group of babies are learning, at a very young age, the value of reading a good book. If you are looking for "peace and quiet", take your book home.
