This a tough hike due to distance and sun exposure. Take plenty of water and sunblock. While close to the stream it is cool and shaded, but it has long stretches along the edge of the Canyon where it gets unbearably bright and hot. There are many stream crossings which still have some running water so hiking poles are recommended. Great views of Santiago Peak and other local peaks. The streams are green and shaded with interesting flowers to look at. At the end of the trail there is a nice park with restrooms and drinking fountains. Lots of mountain bikers so keep an eye out for them.

Nice trail. Love being away from it all ... yet right in the heart of town. Quiet, very much “alone” out there.

Long winding and shaded trails. I went for a trail run, but I saw a few hikers and Mountain bikes while running. It has hills and long flat stretches. Seems like a good trail for people of all skill levels. I'm definitely going back to explore...
