I've been reading reviews, and there's a misconception about Aldi. First, Google the store, and you'll better understand what it's about. From experience, I can say that the overall savings is great compared to Walmart. Things to avoid: coffee. Buy from Super 1 about every 4 weeks when it's on sale. Produce: all of the green food tends to go bad within a couple days. The exception is mushrooms, berries, citrus & apples. I also avoid the garlic as it's imported from China. If you eat bread, the prices are great. Canned goods, including beans, tomato products, and tuna, are excellent. Herbs & spices are very good. Whole fryers are usually $6.99 each & good quality. The cheeses are extremely good, as is most of the other dairy products. They also have almond milk and vegan cheese that's great. The frozen vegetables are good quality, as is the ice cream. Their salsas can't be beat. Non-food items that I recommend are the cat litter, dish liquid, garbage and zip bags, bath tissue, and paper towels. The bleach gel is very good also. Pet food is good quality as is the candy. Their mustard varieties are the best, and they offer an excellent organic ketchup. The nuts, olives, and vinegars are some of the best. Bring your own bags and a quarter for the cart. You get it back and the carts are clean...
Read moreThe whole premise of Aldi is that they can keep the price of things low by having the buggies being put back (thus the reason for the quarter that you DO get back after putting it away properly) and they have their cashiers simply scan while it’s up to the customer to bag things. They have a designated area. People should always have extra grocery bags from other stores that they toss so the idea is to recycle and limit waste. They even offer reusable bags at an affordable price at every register.
The only people upset with this idea seem to be people that are not used to or care about recycling or having affordable groceries. Things are expensive now due to inflation and if all I have to do to save money is bring a reusable bag and a quarter with me; it’s a no brainer.
I’ve also seen people complain about the “foreign” brands. Every single store has their own non-name brand line. Walmart, target, etc. These items are pretty much the exact same as name brand just at a lower price. I don’t see how that’s a bad thing. 🤷♀️ My favorite items to buy from here are any fruits and veggies, peanut butter cookies, Jaffa cookies, and their jarred olives.
Before going here, bring a quarter from your change purse you most likely have and bring a dozen or so plastic bags from Walmart. Enjoy...
Read moreNice brand new store that was clean and mostly stocked in light of today's shipping issues. They have a growing selection of food and non-food items at good prices... including new keto-friendly items, most of which can easily rival many well-known name brands. Produce usually looks good and fresh. And don't be afraid to try their deli-style take-n-bake pizzas.. they are quite tasty! Checkout was quick, but in traditional Aldi style, some cashiers mash some of your items. A word of advice if you want to shop at an Aldi store, load your cart so you can easily get the heavier (non-squashables) on the checkout belt first which allows the cashier to put the heavy stuff on the bottom of an empty cart. Then, try to put up items in the order of heavier less fragile to lighter and most fragile, so most items will still be intact at the end of checkout. Some cashiers try to be careful with your items; others just toss them off into the cart. So, be aware of that. You will also be bagging your own groceries. So bring your own bags or be ready to purchase their paper, plastic, or...
