Had a wonderful time trying out the Central Pizza and Bar. The atmosphere was quaint and I came at a great time to enjoy the air and a more peaceful atmosphere. The little things (decanter water, lit candle) are a nice touch and would score easy points on a date night.
The crispy cheese curds and the accompanying tomato aioli are perhaps the best I've had in the city. Light and crispy and not a soggy mess like some places.
I decided to spin the roulette wheel with there Pizza By the Slice (changes daily, is about 7 dollars) and I landed on the Carbonara Pizza. Its certainly a unique offering, and while it Carbonara can certainly be hit or miss I think this succeeded perfectly on transferring the best qualities of the dish to a nice, foldable and airy crusted pizza.
In the spirit of completing this fact finding mission I actually went back to the starters and ended with the Meatballs, which swam in a delightful sauce with a hearty mix of ricotta and parmesan. The twins themselves were the best I've had in recent memory (don't tell my mom), lightly charred on the outside by still light on the inside, they held shape but came apart in great chunks to fully indulge the sauce with every bite. I can think of a lot of burger places in this town that could learn from these guys!
Though I didn't partake in the drink, a friend of mine who is a key mixologist for an upscale dining establishment in Houston was positively entranced by the menu I sent to him, highly valuing such a creative menu that knows what it likes and sticks to it instead of having a large menu that sacrifices quality. And I believe that goes for the restaurant as a whole.
Service was immaculate, my waitress was lovely and attentive and the promoter was certainly on the spot for all the guests present with an award winning attitude. Will certainly come again soon and I'll be sure to bring a...

My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding and needed some place to get a bite to eat before the ceremony. We read the menu and reviews and decided on Central Pizza & Bar. We had NO IDEA what a treat we were in for! The atmosphere is laid back (even though it was busy) and the establishment has just the right amount of charm and character plus someone did a really great job with the music selection. We sat at the bar and our 'server', Trey, was a pleasure. We ordered the wood roasted Brussel sprouts and nothing could prepare us for the plate of heaven that we were about to dig into. I can't even describe the variety of flavors that each bite surprised us with, all I can say is even if you are not a fan of Brussel sprouts you should give these a try. They may change your life! Not sure if the Brussel sprouts would be enough for us both, we also ordered the Carne pizza (added roasted garlic because, well, I'm Italian and what's not to like about roasted garlic). I am not usually a fan of meat pizzas and only did it for my boyfriend but I am very glad I did. The pizza was amazing, from the crust to the sauce to the toppings (which covered every bite, no skimping here!) that we ate way more than we should have and were sorry we didn't have more time to hang out, have a cocktail, and maybe try a few more items from the menu. We are considering a weekend trip from New Orleans just to walk around the adorable downtown area and enjoy more time (and food) at Central Pizza. All the way around, they won't disappoint! And don't forget to...
Read moreThis restaurant was life changing for me, as far as gourmet pizza goes. This is a must for anyone traveling to Lafayette, even if you are passing through for just one night! The menu is full of original creations which are separated by those with red sauce or no sauce, or choose from an extensive list of options to create your own. The appetizers are not your typical list, as there were options for burrata and cheese curds, as well as their famous Brussel sprouts. Upon walking in, you're immediately met with the aroma of smoked meats and bread and greeted by a member of the staff to escort you to your table. There's a bar located in the back with a wide variety of liquor on shelves stacked to the ceiling for craft cocktails. We went to this restaurant at lunch time so it was quite busy and understandable as to why our server was a little delayed getting our order when trying to manage all tables timely for refills or any additional needs. Once the pizzas arrived, it was hard not to try to eat the entire thing in one sitting. I ordered the Voodoo Chili pizza but requested no meats since I have a pork allergy, however the variation of cheeses and spicy calibrian chili aioli were absolutely a knockout combination. My coworker ordered the Pauli which came with pepperoni and jalapeños, but according to the locals, this is their favorite. The menu and description of the pizzas really doesn't do the flavor justice, but if you ask anyone local where you must visit, it's easy to see why they say...
