Read moreAliso Beach has a large pay parking lot close to the beach. You'll pay at one of several electronic kiosks, spread about the lot. They also provide a large 2 winged restroom building with many private individual toilet rooms, plus 2 outside sinks, including hand soap dispensers, to wash up with.
One thing I love about this beach is the piercing turquoise water color found here! The steeply- tapered sand at this beach is ideal, for world class skimboarders to perform their tricks.
South of the parking lot, there's an interesting rock shelf, where waves blast into the sky. This area is particularly epic at sunset, when low light from the setting sun backlights these reckless natural collisions.
I once saw a humpback whale here surface 25 ft. from shore-10 feet away from a startled swimmer. Beach-goers gathered at the shoreline, thinking the whale was injured. The crowd cheered when the whale effortlessly glided back out to sea with a graceful swoosh of its massive tail.
You can find good food at Lost Pier Cafe, just south of restrooms, where they offer some tasty choices, like fish tacos & breakfast burritos. You can buy alcoholic beverages, including draft beer here, as well. They must be consumed only in the roped-off dining area, provided...
Read moreThis was my favorite beach, was always so quaint and well taking care of. That has changed ever since the city of Laguna Beach took it over. Parking is twice as much, which I wouldn’t mind if they were taking care of it but they aren’t. It’s covered in trash, it’s obvious they aren’t watering the lawn parts as they are dead when everywhere else you look around the area is green, they removed the fire pits, the new sign looks cheap and uses a font and colors that feels like bad graffiti. It’s the little things and care of them that makes a place feel quaint, loved and cared for. I feel like it’s the victim of people that just want more money funneled towards them. Please give the beach back to the previous owners. They cared! Until then, looks like it’s time to move on to a different beach not owned by Laguna where...
