Eastwood United Pentecostal — Attraction in Lake Charles

Hopefully they've changed since then, but years ago a very small amount of Black people started attending this church. They actually purchased a separate building at another location for "the new congregants" to worship and familiarize with the church. The pastor of the church at that time even asked another prominent Black pastor of a large church in Lake Charles to "shepherd" them. Sis. Vonnie, you might remember me from during the mid-1970's, with Alice, Keith & Troy. By sheer happenstance, just moments ago, I happen to have found out about Sis. Joan! Lots of kind and well-meaning people attend here. The building is beautiful and well maintained.

The downside is that the belief system is deeply flawed. Everything hinges around controlling a person's life to an excessive degree.

If you start regularly attending here, they will pressure you to get rid of your TV, stop wearing makeup and jewelry, they will control who you date, and ask for 10% of your income every paycheck.

That's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the cult-like set of rules and guidelines these people force people to follow. Best to avoid...
