This Mardi Gras Museum in Lake Charles is unique and has the biggest collection of costumes being showcased in the world. I was told that there are 290+ costumes on display.
I found it fascinating that the mannequin that are being used to showcase the costumes are customized to reflect the real person who once wore these costumes, very neat isn't it?
All the costumes are very beautiful and it allows us to travel back in time to see the various colours, materials, theme that each Krew uses annually. I also get to understand the definition of "Krew" and how the number of Krew groups determine who is the biggest Mardi Gras in the world.

My only criticism of this museum is that the displays are close together so it's difficult to get photos that do the costumes justice. This was a remarkable experience for us. To see the costumes up close and learn about their design and construction was an education. Imagine paying $6000. for an outfit which would be worn about 4 times.
