Ohuta Beach Park on Lake Pepin and Mississippi River Pool 4 in Lake City, MN is a popular swimming beach and gathering place for locals and visitors!
While portions of the park are historic (ie. birthplace of water skiing, trees, swimming beach, layout), others have been reimagined to include: a small, but inclusive playground, a pavilion, splash pad, Ralph Samuelson tribute statue (inventor of water skiing), open area for community festivals and farmers markets and the new bathrooms + concessions building.
Things to do there: Swim at the beach, rent kayaks from local outfitters, walk along the beach or on the river walk sidewalk, fishing nearby, bird watching (many eagles!), fishing (outside of designated swimming area).

Read moreThis has ALWAYS been my favorite beaches and well worth the drive into Lake City. It was smaller and less crowded that other places and the focus is on peaceful enjoyment free from the overly managed and overly constructed aspects that have spoiled other area beaches. It was natural and old fashioned.
We just visited this last weekend and much to our dismay there were huge cement structures everywhere obviously part of some project, piles of tar smelling dirt and everything was torn up making it difficult to access the beach. There were huge Construction Vehicles parked there as well. I can only imagine what it is like on the beach during Construction Hours. I know that work needs to be done but there was no consideration to weekend beach visitors. It is an mess and the bathroom was locked and even the portable toilet was locked. Please help!! Summer...
