The Wisconsin Dells Mountain Coaster is the thrill ride of the year in the Dells, theres nothing like it around the area! This was an exciting adventurous ride careening down the track winding through the trees. The journey uphill is the longest part of the ride, peaceful and scenic. The ride down was almost full throttle and of course much faster than going up. The morning I went, a quick storm and downpour came through with a light rain after, but that didnt stop the Mountain Coaster from running. They put these cool rain shields on the "cars" to keep you a bit dryer and the rain off your face. The weight restrictions are a bit different when the track is wet and that's to be expected. I also LEFT MY PHONE IN THE CAR as you must have both hands on the brake levers at all times and after riding, I understand why. For this ride there is no need to bring anything with you other than yourself, so anything that's not truly a necessity, leave it in the car. Plus, if you lose your phone on the ride, there is a $100 (cash) retrieval fee and that doesn't guarantee it will be found. Remember, this ride is on a hillside winding through the forest, not coming down a giant open cement slab. ...and they don't do a search until the following morning for safety as it cannot be done while the ride is in operation. So, things to know and keep in mind. After the ride is over and you disembark you exit through the gift shop which has some nice Dells Mountain Coaster themed T's, Sweatshirts etc...Also, on the morning I went I bought a single ride as it was my first time and for me that was a mistake, I should've bought the 3 pack. Its a huge savings as its almost like buying 2 and getting your 3rd ride free, rookie mistake. This is now going to be a must stop everytime I get the chance to go back, and the 3 pack of rides will be a must! This was flat out...
Read moreOkay, so this is neat, but man oh man, is it expensive! Like really expensive. A family of 4 would pay over $60 for a ride that lasts 5 minutes, but keep in mind that the first 4 minutes is a super slow climb to the top. That said, we did it a second time because I'm a sucker for doing things on repeat when my daughter is smiling and laughing. From an enjoyment perspective, it's neat/fun, but from a value perspective, it's wildly overpriced and a huge miss.
I went back and forth on this between 3 and 4 stars. My actual rating would be 3.5, but I just couldn't give it 4 when it comes to the overall value. At half the cost, this would be a 4, maybe even 5 star review all day long.
Edit: to the idea of the 3 lap ride... that would have cost even more since you don't allow them to be split between people. Making that suggestion over and over tells me that you aren't fully hearing the concerns of cost on this attraction. If you'd allow bulk ride purchasing to be split between riders, that would be a way to lessen the cost. That said, I understand you don't have to do this because the attraction is new and the line is continuous regardless the cost (for...
Read moreThis coaster offers a fast-paced, downhill thrill ride that some members of our group really enjoyed. The experience is self-paced, letting riders control their speed, which added a fun, personalized element to the ride. For those who enjoy quick adrenaline bursts, this coaster definitely delivers. That said, there were a few drawbacks. At $20 per ride, the experience is quite short—just about one minute from top to bottom—which left some of us questioning the value. Additionally, the cart we rode in squeaked noticeably, and at times there was an unpleasant metal-on-metal sound that was hard to ignore. It didn’t impact safety, but it did detract from the overall experience. Our ride operator, Nik, was unfortunately dismissive and flippant toward our group, which dampened the enthusiasm at the start. A more welcoming attitude would have gone a long way in setting a better tone. In the end, some of our party had a great time and would definitely return for another go, while others found the short duration and operational issues less than ideal. The Mountain Coaster can be a fun thrill, but expectations around value and customer...
