To be clear up front - the resort and the other cabins our group rented were great. It was just cabin #9 that was awful. The cabins/villas seem to be individually owned and the standards are not consistent. We had a family gathering and we rented 4 cabins and 2 villas. Cabin #2 is newly renovated and is fabulous. Nice finishes, good lighting, great location. #6 is tiny and a bit stuffy but clean and has a great deck. #14 is fine for a cabin. Has a big deck and skylights. Villas #51 and #34 were big, comfortable and fresher smelling than cabins 6, 9 and 14. Cabin 9 is a swampy, dark, musty cabin. Even with the one A/C unit running constantly it was humid and rank. Our towels never dried which is problematic because you don’t get new ones. The clean kitchen towels smelled so bad our hands stunk after using them. They obviously had been left wet too long. We couldn’t stand being in our cabin and wouldn’t stay in a place like this for $75 a night much less $275 a night. Mike was helpful and accessible. I suggested they put a dehumidifier in the cabin and he rightly pointed out there is no room. The rest of the resort was great - common areas are very clean and well maintained. We would absolutely come back and stay at Island point Resort. The owners of Cabin 9, however, will not be getting...
Read moreWe stayed in cabin 10, which I believe is one of the smallest with 1 bedroom (2 queen) n 1 bath with pullout sofa. The sofa appeared to be fairly new and not the same as in website pics, plus tv's are new flatscreens. We stayed 2 nights July 3rd & 4th. Cabin and gas grill was very clean. Sitting on front porch had a nice view of the lake. The cabins are situated to allow decent privacy on your deck. The community was quite and no screaming kids running all over the place if your kids are older like ours...very nice change from the hotels on the main strip. Location makes you feel miles away from the hustle n bustle, but only a short drive to town. Pool was heated to 84 degrees, clean and very nice. All the residents and other renters were very nice and all said hello or waved as you passed. A far far cry from Eagle River cabins we've stayed in Wisconsin where everyone was snooty and very rude, a place we will never visit again. This will now be our go to cabin location from now on. Mike, the very nice gentleman that takes the reservation, checks you in and out directly at the cabin was also awesome and very welcoming.
We will be returning! Mike did state that the highly coveted cabins directly lakeside book up several months and sometimes a...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed in red cabin #9 in October. The unit was clean and charming but very small and had not been updated in a while, so look carefully at the photos and the descriptions before booking to make sure you're getting what you want. The red cabins were all built 1940s/1950s and are the closest to the water with the best views...but the larger cabins and villas are post-1980 so they are larger and a bit more modern (unless you get a completely updated red cabin). ||||Because we were there in fall, and it was cool and rainy, we were not able to enjoy the pool (closed for the season) or beach activities, which we would have liked. However the setting is really lovely, lots of tall pines, and very peaceful. This was our first time in the Dells and we would not have enjoyed the big hotels with waterparks, but all that action is nearby if you are staying with family members who DO want those kinds of Dells experiences.||||The manager Mike was extremely friendly and helpful. Kudos to him for looking over this big property||||Be sure to visit Ishnala Supper Club (and go EARLY) for a time-warp dinner. Also, take walks in Mirror Lake State Park, and take hikes in Devils Lake State Park if you want to appreciate the beauty...
