Tina the operating manager, her customer service is terrible. She is so rude and not concerned w being nice even tho she is the operating manager. My payment was late, it tried to charge me on the 7th, i have records that it charged me previously as late as on the 14. She refused to let me work out, i understand i need to post the payment. But i paid an annual fee, i should have a grace period like the previous months. I had to call customer service for them to change me due date. But time had no resulution for an alternative. I work in customer services. I honestly don’t even want to make the payment or work out there ever again. She told me i can’t work out but customer service moved my date and now i can work out. The general manager who should lead the team is setting the bar really low. I’m telling all my friends and family to go to the lake view location. Where they at least are kind. Tina has the worst attitude. Not to mention she is not even presenting her self professional. She has grey roots w color dyed hair that needs to be touched up. How is that allowed on top of her sassy attitude, it’s sickening to be treated like nothing at a place i visit everyday. Thank you Tina for ruining my day, for ruining my work out and my over all experience w x sports. You totally impact me the worst way. I will be contacting xsports to see why is she allowed. If you don’t like your job don’t take it out on the ppl. I just wanted to use my grace period as i previously did which is clearly not a problem since customer service helped me do that after a 45 minute call. Please send Tina and her attitude back to training until she can have a mind set with a smile w attitude of gratitude for a job and life. I never wana see her again. I called to check did the system update the new date. She answered and i hung up. She called back twice. I literally had anxiety about her telling family member when I’m at the gym like she would ask them to come attack me. Her body language and facial expressions are not friendly to be at the front desk. Xsports has relationships w other business they cross promote w, they have the Chicago police there recruiting, why must we be greeted w nasty attitude Tina??? This is ridiculous. She felt so triumphant denying me entry, when she could have said Brandon i can help you work out by changing your due date, she was happy seeing me leave unsatisfied. So demonic of...
Read moreA truly unethical, dishonest establishment. Before you sign up, ask very pointed questions about every conceivable cancellation hypothetical you can think of and get their answers in WRITING. Because when they say all they need is 30 days notice, they are flat out lying to you. I lost my job, was told I could only stop the payments if I was medically unable to use a fitness facility, meaning I needed a doctor's note. And that was their month-to-month plan. They also use dangerous tactics to manipulate you into their expensive personal training programs, regularly insulting members working out without one, making their workouts very uncomfortable and unwelcome.
I've been a member (if you want to call it that) since last November. The prices you see outside, obviously, are nothing like what you actually pay. When you sign up, be prepared to pay on that first day in the ballpark of $350-400. Yeah, I'm not kidding. And THEN you can start paying your monthly rate. It's great.
In April, they started charging me an additional $50 non-usage fee because they deemed my 3-day a week personal workouts (I'm not in a class or have a trainer, I'm on my own time) as not using the facility enough. When I complained, they said I should have read the contract. When I said they should have explicitly mentioned that, they said there are too many fees to cover all of them.
Last week, I entered into one of their little fishbowl raffles (where you put your business card in a fishbowl with your membership number on the back). When I "won" a month of free protein shakes, I also was informed I'd consented to "upgrading" my membership to a higher, more expensive level that instead of charging me $19.99 a month, would now charge me $49.99 AND I apparently, by entering into the raffle, had consented to an automatic renewal of my membership in November. They are corrupt, dishonest and criminal.
I strongly recommend you find another gym, any other gym. They will bankrupt you and steal from you. I am currently working with my alderman and state representative to look into their business practices and even they were appalled when they saw the bank statements and...
Read moreThe gym itself is pretty good. There's a lot of equipment although it is a bit congested. I signed up for a package that included 3 personal training sessions (I have used one so far and found it enjoyable). That's where the good stuff ends.
I DID NOT enjoy the sales tactics. I went in for a free trial a week before I was actually moving to the area. I was sat down immediately and pressured into signing up for a membership. The membership was way more expensive than advertised. The only way to get the advertised price of $14.99 is to pay the rest of the fees up front which comes out to almost $300 startup fee. That doesn't even include the yearly "maintenance fee" whatever that is.
What really made me upset were the 7 subsequent texts I received asking me to "come check out the gym". I responded to each of them saying I had already signed up for a membership but apparently nobody got the memo. Then I was very upset when I got an offer for $0 startup fee. Now, I was pressured into signing up for the gym a week before I was even moving to the area. Had I just waited until the appropriate time. I would have saved myself $150!!!!! That's just plain robbery at that point. When I texted the employee back asking about this I did not receive a response.
They also didn't have my 2 other personal training sessions on file. They did fix that but not before I was made to wait while the manager finished his conversation with his gym buddy. I felt unimportant as I was sitting there trying to leave and the guy made me wait to get back what I paid for in the first place.
Honestly so far I like the location and the personal trainer I worked with was very helpful. But the management has been sub par and I feel as if I have been extorted for more money than I should have paid. I am already looking into other options in the area.
**UPDATE: It's funny how when you inquire you can't for the life of you get them to stop hounding you with calls and emails. However, if you email support with your reference number you wait for weeks and still don't get a response. I will update again if/when I...
