I brought my puppy here (English bulldog) and she is fairly excited to be around other dogs because she is a puppy. I am trying to socialize her because with this breed they definitely need socializing with other pets. I brought her a few times and never had an issue, everyone loved her and I’m always ontop of her making sure she isn’t causing any trouble or bothering other dogs . I must say though IF YOUR DOG IS AGGRESSIVE with other dogs for ANY reason DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG INTO THE DOG PARK WITH OTHER DOGS!! I say this because why would you put your pet into a place where they can cause danger to another dog or person? My puppy was attacked because another owners dog “doesn’t like to share the ball” so why bring your dog if he becomes aggressive with a ball!? Theirs tennis balls all over the park! My puppy got a laceration to her face and while this man was apologetic he still kept his dog there! I will be more cautious taking her from now on. Again if your dog is aggressive DONT take them to a dog park with other dogs. But other then that this is such a great place to take your dog especially since most (almost all) parks in Lancaster don’t allow you to take your dog, if so they must be leashed and cannot have actual fun. But please read the signs before going in. I’ve never had an issue up until last week but I still enjoy taking...
Read moreWhile the park itself is actually very nice, the irresponsible handlers and ill-mannered dogs make it a place I avoid. I have been to this park a handful of times and every single time I’ve gone, my larger dog has been attacked and my smaller dog has been trampled over by large, rambunctious dogs in the small dog section. I’ve tried giving this place a chance and gone on separate occasions hoping my experience would be different. A lot of people will knowingly bring aggressors into this park because they simply do not care. And they will not take responsibility for their dogs. I had to personally break up an unprovoked attack from a bully breed mutt to a golden retriever (2 dogs that were NOT mine) because nobody knew canine behavior or knew how to properly end a dog fight. And the owner of the bully breed continued to allow their dog to play. If you bring your dog here, be very cautious. And know that aggressive dogs are constantly...
Read moreThe park is as good as the people are at several things: 1. cleaning up after your dog, which is a huge HINT here, more people need to observe and clean up their dog poop. 2. If you have a dog that exhibits aggressive behavior and SHE has a collar on which is the only way you control her, don't bring her (who may or may not be named Dalilah) to the dog park. It's unfair for all dogs including her. 3. If you have a humper, be on constant hump patrol. 4. This is a park that Lancaster City would love to wash their hands of, so basically this park belongs to all of the dog parents attending. There is 1 woman who tries to administer and 1 guy who maintains this park. So, we should all try to be good stewards of it to make it a model park that the City wants to use as a plus for bringing people into Lancaster, and also maybe throw some money at for much needed improvements.
I will now step off...
