Visiting the Brenke Fish Ladder has become one of my favorite local experiences in Lansing. Whether I’m out with my family or just enjoying some quiet time alone, this spot always feels special. The combination of the flowing river, the artistic sculptures nearby, and the laid-back atmosphere makes it such a peaceful escape right in the heart of the city.
We recently kicked off our river trail walk at the fish ladder, and my kids absolutely loved it. The parking was free and easy to find, and the whole area felt safe and welcoming. The murals and metal sculptures add a creative touch that makes the space even more vibrant and fun for taking photos. I also noticed how much cleaner it’s been lately — it’s nice to see everyone taking better care of this beautiful spot.
What makes the Brenke Fish Ladder even more unique is how it brings people together, especially during events like Scrap Fest. It’s amazing to see all the incredible art on display and feel the community pride.
The river trail is gorgeous, with plenty of shaded benches perfect for a quick picnic or just relaxing by the water. Between the fishing, the art, and the nature, Brenke Fish Ladder has truly earned a special place...
Read moreMy kids and their friends always enjoy starting our river trail walk at the fish ladder. The parking lot is well lit, has free parking, and there are some rad metal sculptures and painted murals nearby. Old town is so charming, and the fish ladder itself is a fun place for the kids to explore, and a great place to take some artsy pictures as well!
