Sir Pizza in Old Town has Lost it's Charm
When I write reviews, it’s typically to commend outstanding service or recognize a meaningful experience. Regrettably, in the case of Sir Pizza in Old Town Lansing, I feel compelled to do the opposite. What should have been a simple, pleasant evening shared with my girlfriend and my daughter turned into an exercise in discomfort, confusion, and a staggering lack of basic hospitality.
From the moment we stepped through the door, there was an inexplicable coldness in the air—not from the weather, but from the staff. We were not greeted. No eye contact. No smile. Nothing to acknowledge our presence as fellow human beings, let alone as potential paying customers. We were ghosts in a poorly lit, outdated dining room.
I approached the counter, made an honest attempt to place an order, and was met with a dismissiveness that bordered on contempt. The employee behind the counter barely glanced in my direction, as though acknowledging me required too great an effort. My presence, entirely unreciprocated. It felt as though we had inadvertently stumbled into a private club rather than a public establishment.
Awkwardly I stood in the near-empty dining area—unsure if we were supposed to wait, seat ourselves, or simply disappear—no one addressed us. Not a single word. Not a check-in. Not a confirmation. Nothing. The feeling was mutual: we weren’t wanted, and we no longer wanted to be there. My daughter fidgeted uncomfortably. My girlfriend whispered, “Are we supposed to be invisible?” I couldn’t have agreed more.
The true tragedy here isn’t just the complete lack of service or civility—it’s the sheer waste of potential. Old Town is known for its quirky charm, community spirit, and friendly local spots. Sir Pizza seems to have missed the memo entirely.
Needless to say, I will not return. There are too many places in Lansing—heck, on just that street alone—where people still know how to treat you like you matter. Sir Pizza in Old Town has shown me exactly how not to run a business, and for that, at least, they’ve been memorable.
Avoid this place, unless you enjoy being treated like a...
Read moreCustomer service is very poor. They act like I should be thanking them for the pizza I paid for, and it has always been like that at that the Grand River location. I went for a pick up. There were four people behind the counter and only one was actually doing something. It was the cashier and she was having a good old time laughing and hee-hawing with the customer ahead of me, even though customers were waiting. I guess I was giving dejected looks at one of the other employees who was doing nothing near the oven, so she sarcastically waved at me and went somewhere else to do nothing . Someday, people will start avoiding this business (perhaps they already are) and the owner(s) will ask "where are all our loyal customers?" Read this owners. On top of that, prices are outlandish. On another occasion, I was going to order a beer while I waited. What appeared to be a 6 oz shrunken beer glass of beer was $4.00. The "ambiance" of that place (there isn't any) , nor the location, nor the entertainment justifies that kind of cost. Go to the one on Lake Lansing if you can. Grand River doesn't deserve your business. I have to believe that there are many more customers who feel the same way, but, won't take the time and effort to leave a review. Too bad, the employees at Grand River need an...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Sir Pizza – Old Town, and I can honestly say it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the cozy wood-accented interior and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. I grabbed a seat by the window overlooking the river — the view alone is reason enough to come back. Watching fish jump while sipping on a cold drink made for an unexpectedly peaceful moment.
I ordered the Royal Feast Pizza, and now I understand why it's such a community favorite — it was loaded with flavor, the toppings were perfectly balanced, and the crust had this unique biscuit-like texture that was both crumbly and satisfying. I also tried the Royal Feast Baked Potato, which was equally impressive — hearty, cheesy, and packed with delicious toppings.
What stood out even more was the staff. They were friendly, fast, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there, which created such a positive vibe. Whether you're grabbing a casual lunch, meeting up with friends, or planning a surprise get-together, Sir Pizza delivers on all fronts — food, service, and atmosphere.
I’ve already decided to make this a regular spot. It’s not just a pizza place — it’s a local gem that truly...
