We attended an event here to see a friend. I had never been, and was given the impression is was a nice place. The building was quite nice, but they oversold tickets, packing more people in than I can believe is legal. Their was almost no elbow room and many of the tables for this "premier" venue were plastic folding tables.
This led to the worst part, the food and drinks. We arrived a little early and waited almost an hour for a server to stop at our table. Another half hour for our drinks, and they never came back for us to order food. After 3 hours almost nobody in the place even got a chance to order food, let alone get any. We left early to go eat at Ozones.
The other piece that bothered me was that the musicians were great, and deserved better. The tickets had to be purchased, and were obviously oversold intentionally. The folks sitting next to us said this happens all the time. The Urban Beat just sells more tickets than seats and everyone has to...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Urban be ever since you opened.. regardless if it’s been five years since I’ve been here.. my experience never changes.. It’s always five stars.
The servers in the bartenders and the entire staff are full of beautiful faces
Terry Terry is a wonderful host
The bands he selects for his events are always exceptional, and they always blow my mind
The blues fest tonight was some of the best blues music I have ever seen .. some songs where my 78 year-old dad was singing along to and some songs that even my 29-year-old self would recognize.
This is hands-down, one of the best spots in Lansing to go to .. if it’s busy, please be patient.. if it’s rowdy please enjoy it.. This is a good crowd and a local place that does nothing but offer the best.
No matter how old they go I hope this place continues to exist and continues to be a staple and old...
Read moreIt’s a cute little venue. We went for R n B bingo. Great music, it was a nice time. We bought drinks a little after 1 am and then were literally told to chug them and leave. It was super weird. Nobody is trying to get a OUI by chugging some liquor and immediately exiting the building. I feel like I’d like a warning if they’re closing before buying drinks, like, “Lady, you have 4 minutes to finish that.” I didn’t like that the bar served me drinks, took my money and then told us to get out. Because of that, my group won’t be back. It wasn’t pleasant. I’d also like to note that the advertisement stated $10 admission but it was actually $15 online. There is also clearly a plumbing issue because the women’s restroom smells awful, like there’s a...
