This was a take-out order. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Meat BBQ, and I must say that the food was truly excellent. I ordered a full rack of ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, chili fries, and parmesan fries, and each dish delivered exceptional flavors that left me satisfied and craving for more.
The standout of my meal was undoubtedly the full rack of ribs. They were cooked to perfection, tender and succulent, with a mouthwatering smoky flavor that complemented the meat beautifully. The pulled pork sandwich was equally delightful, with tender and juicy pork, and a delectable barbecue sauce that enhanced the overall taste.
The chili fries were a wonderful combination of crispy fries and flavorful chili. The balance of spices and richness in the chili created a savory experience that added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. The parmesan fries were also delicious, with a generous dusting of parmesan cheese that added a savory kick to the classic fries.
While the main dishes were outstanding, I would like to note that the mac 'n' cheese had an overwhelming amount of pepper. While some may appreciate the strong pepper flavor, it slightly overshadowed the other flavors in the dish. It would be beneficial for Meat BBQ to ensure a more balanced seasoning in their mac 'n' cheese to cater to a wider range of palates.
In terms of portion sizes, I found the sides to be on the smaller side. While the flavors were enjoyable, I would have preferred larger portions to fully complement the main dishes. It's worth noting that the quality and taste of the sides were still commendable, despite the smaller portions.
Overall, my experience at Meat BBQ was delightful, with dishes that boasted excellent taste and showcased the mastery of barbecue flavors. The full rack of ribs and pulled pork sandwich were undeniably highlights of the meal. While the mac 'n' cheese could benefit from a more balanced seasoning, the overall dining experience was memorable and satisfying.
If you're a barbecue enthusiast looking for delicious flavors, Meat BBQ is definitely worth a visit. Just be aware that the sides come in smaller portions, so you may want to consider ordering additional sides if you have a...

Truly, this is the best place that serves brisket I have ever been to the atmosphere is absolutely amazing Brett you once again have the most phenomenal suggestions on food and drink. Your service is top-notch. The atmosphere is top-notch. The food is top-notch. It shows that you have employees that care about what they do and their interaction with the customers I will continue to adjust this place to everybody that I know the crazy thing is is that anytime I bring it up? Everybody goes here.
I find it hard to eat brisket because I don’t like fatty meat. They have a lean portion. This is the only place where I’ve ever seen a lien portion. I waited to do this review because I wanted to see if my opinion was gonna change I absolutely love this place. Top down atmosphere service and food were all top-notch price was very reasonable. Quality was beyond imagine. I want to give a shout out to Olivia and Brett they were great advocates and stewards of this restaurant. I had a lot of annoying questions and I know I usually do, but they were very knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant the atmosphere of the restaurant in extremely knowledgeable about the suggestions that they were making. We got the meat platter with the addition of a second helping of brisket. The coleslaw and mac & cheese was great. We also got the fries, covered in gravy with pulled pork, bacon and cheese. The atmosphere is A combination of hard rock in Star Wars litter, the walls and the ceilings of this little restaurant. It’s absolutely an amazing intricate atmosphere with little things hidden all over the place. we went back twice to see if the experience was the same. The second time was even as good as the first. I started talking about this place to people at work. It is a well-known restaurant in old town. Lansing Guy Fieri even spent a little bit of time there. and has recognized this restaurant. I don’t give five star ratings very often but I will give a five star rating to this...
Read moreWe drove an hour and a half and were not disappointed. Metal meets Meat!! Ambience , if you know who Iron Maiden, Amon Amarth or Testament is, or if you’re excited for Slayer possibly getting back together , then you found your spot.
Friendly service , clean location but you probably want to know about the food!!
Easily one of the best BBQ joints i have found in Michigan so far!
It’s not without faults but let’s get to the good stuff first.
Two of the most boring meats in the BBQ game that are often dry and require way too much sauce are , Turkey and Pulled chicken.
To my surprise these were fantastic and actually their Smoked Chicken wings were some of the best i have ever had. Winner!
Huge, moist, delicious and a delicate bit of smoke so not to overwhelm the meat. I’ll be back for these again soon.
Pulled pork, having just come from 2 weeks in the Carolina’s I can say this rivaled most I had tried. Smokey , salty and delicious.
Sauces- I’m a bit of a purist and don’t traditionally use sauces but they had a fantastic assortment ranging from a tangy Mop sauce, vinegar mustard to my absolute favorite Spicey Garlic.
Think Franks with a kick of garlic. While not a traditional BBQ sauce , i would put that on toast if had some, Fantastic.
The one drawback and this was surprising for sure was the brisket.
Good bark and clear smoke ring, but it was tough , dry and lacked flavor. It was cut very thick and we chose the flat but brisket should pull apart gently and this was more like burnt end pot roast.
We had multiple sides some misses but mostly hits, standouts were the BBQ beans and the Roasted broccoli salad. Delicious.
Overall i’m putting this as my number 2 BBQ restaurant, just behind Satchels in Ann Arbor and will 100% be back .
