My wife is from Ukraine so we were in a hunt for a place to get her specialized foods. There are five stores closer to our home than Euro Food & Deli, but we drive a bit out of our way to go here.
The produce is always impressive, and the inventory turns over fast enough that everything they sell is fresh. They bake their own bread, and always have a good stock of the many old world products.
This does not tell the whole story. The owner really gets to know her customers. She is from Ukraine and, like most Ukrainians, speaks fluent Russian and Ukrainian along with English. We are always welcomed by name and with a huge smile. It may be due to our baby being with us, but I am certain that every customer gets this high level of personal service and warm attention.
The biggest treat is that lunch is served daily and it is true home cooking. Everything is made with love and care. For $7 you get a bowl of soup, homemade bread, and an entree. The meals are different every day so you never get old food. I never order soup at any other restaurant because too often they refrigerate the previous day's soup and serve it for a few days. Not at Euro Food & Deli! Everything is new each day, and you can taste this freshness.
The food they serve is so authentic that rarely do I hear any English being spoken by the customers. Almost everyone at the tables are Slavic. Whenever I mention going for Ukrainian food to my Ukrainian wife she has a huge smile and is quite enthusiastic. If someone who can cook these foods gets excited by eating them in a restaurant the food must be special and truly authentic.
Make sure you go here! And go often. You can eat here every day getting the one meal they offer each day and it will not cost much and you will get a big variety of healthy, hearty, and...
Read moreI was just riding a motorcycle, about 15 minutes away from my new home and saw the sign for the Euro Food & Deli from the road. I decided to stop and check it out. The shopping experience was great. I bought Ukrainian beer ( always curious who has a good one), Polish candy ( Ptasie Mleczko - staple Polish food, which I am addicted to ), Riga gold ( aka little, smoked fish-so good ), Russian, eh.... ( little fridge magnet in a shape of Matrioshka-wanted a real one, but they were out). Ran out of space in my little backpack, but I was curious and wanted to buy kvas, smoked makarelle fish, red borscht....bread. Well, will need to bring my car next time. The store, seams to be well-stacked with products and I didn't have enough time to explore it due to time constraints. I wandered around the store and I heard a lot of people speak Russian, so when it was my turn to pay at the cash register, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and answer in Russian. Now, I was born and raised in Poland in the late 60's, went through the school system, which included Russian language ( besides German )as a foreign language. Of course, I never learned it, I was too immature to really appreciate it back then. And, suddenly, I find myself trying to speak it at a Euro Food & Deli. I think, the lady, at the counter, was very kind hearing me. She was great, friendly and made me feel at ease. I appreciate it a lot, because I am coming back to the store, sometimes very soon, that kvas drink in the fridge.....have to try it and see if it similar to what my grandma used to make on hot summer days. Thank you, five stars Euro...
Read moreI would like to express my disappointment with the service I received at your store. I visited a few minutes after opening, and upon entering, I was not greeted. Instead, I was asked if the open sign was already on, which felt unwelcoming and as if my presence was unwanted.
Additionally, the day before my visit, a friend inquired about Easter bread and was informed that a delivery would be made the following day. However, when I visited the next day, there was no Easter bread available.
As a result of these experiences, I will not be returning...
