Weird management, this is the tore off thrift store that doesn’t want to sell their stuff. I’ve been in many times and the regular workers are pretty nice. The store is run by a nonprofit that helps the homeless, among other things. I lived on the streets for years in Dallas Fort Worth Tx and have gotten off the streets very recently. I only say that to point out that I’m an at risk person a single mom of a baby. They’re close by so we like to walk there sometimes. I love baskets and fake fruit. I don’t know why, I’m not an old lady, I just like then and I finally have an apartment after being homeless and I like to decorate it. I noticed the people would out fake fruit in random baskets on the table full of baskets. So I take the basket with fruit and I’m happy. I come back and buy another basket with fruit but this time she says she wants to charge me double for the fruit with the basket. I say “ok I get it” and buy the several baskets with fruit and leave. I always feels awkwardly in there for some reason. They have had the same excruciating stuff every single time I go. I don’t get it. I overhear one of the managers tell the worker that they can just sell the baskets for cheap .50 just sell them (they’ve been there for months come on!) yet the worker who knows I love baskets never ever offers me the basket I want for cheaper. Has permission but won’t. Am I not a customer who this might qualify for the most? But I’ll pay what I have to and I’m pretty easy going. But you’ll notice every time I go in so get another basket with fruit I’m paying more and more. It makes me feel weird. So today I go in and I even bring my friend. I get 2 baskets and both with fruit, plus I get a decorative plate with a stand and other a few other things. There’s a new “manager” in there, an oldish white woman, short w short white hair. . She tells me I can’t buy any fruit because they don’t have “enough to display”. What? Either the fruit is for sale or it’s not. So it WAS but now it’s not? Why do you get items donated if you’re not going to sell them? It makes me feel so weird in there every time I buy something. Why is buying something such an issue? They never sell anything I was literally just beginning to buy a whole bunch of stuff that I’d seen for months. And now they don’t want to sell it. So I put all my fruit and the baskets back, in agitated because it’s like they just have an issue with ME, and yet I’m one of the only people spending any money in that store. She has the nerve to say (about the fruit) “you can get it at home goods or somewhere like that” — I’m a single mom WALKING, shopping at a thrift store to save money and you recommend homegoods? Union gospel mission, your thrift store suffers because apparently you’re decorating the merchandise and won’t sell the donations. Then she rings up my decorated plate, and I notice she took the stand away. I said “why are you taking the stand? It clearly goes with this plate”, but she doesn’t care, shes apparently too busy thinking about a future plate donation she can decorate with later. It’s absurd! The stand and the plate went together, but this lady is too busy worrying about decorating rather than proper retail at a thrift store. I will never go back! Such a shame, but when you look at oh, on both of my items, half wasn’t even for sale. The fruit with the baskets, and the stand with the plate. What a weird poorly run store and a bad affiliation for Union gospel mission. You can’t be making enough money to justify that store I know for a fact because the merchandise never changes and you don’t want to sell it, so who’s money is paying the rent and employees? It’s not well spent. It’s a waste. You need new leadership I’ve heard in many sectors, that’s the talk. Message me it’s my dream to run a homeless shelter and I come from an actual huge city, I could probably help you out tremendously. I’m familiar with more than you can imagine. But your thrift store sucks. Don’t out stuff out that a customer can’t buy , especially at a thrift store. It’s weird...
Read moreI think this is the best, most affordable, well organized and CLEANEST Thrift Store I have ever had the pleasure to wander into. First of all, they have an amazing selection of quality clothes and shoes. Then: Vinyl for a Buck?!?! Jewelry. Housewares. Collectibles. Art. The staff is amazing. And their Mission to help others and feed the homeless, is not only heartwarming, but important work. The Las Cruces Gospel Rescue Mission needs your support. You can help by making a donation (clothing, household goods, and of course, cash works!). You can attend a meeting or luncheon to learn about volunteerism and how you can help. Or stop by their Thrift Store and see the merchandise for sale. Ask about their specials (like 75% off glassware. Or steep discounts on tops and shoes!) Honestly, the BEST of Las Cruces, maybe New Mexico here. Stop by. You'll be glad you did. AND they will be glad...
Read moreVery, very clean thrift store. Very well organized. Housewares are sort of set up like you're in someone's house. Best quality merchandise and prices reflect that, although many items were half off when I went in. I don't need much in life, and I didn't find anything I needed here. Actually, I more enjoy poking around in funky/junky thrift stores, but this one is good for people who like...
