Semilla Natural Foods — Attraction in Las Vegas

This place is quaint, seems like a local shop but tbier prices are expensive by any standard. Considering that they are the only natural food store in las vegas is pretty sad. You can easily pay three times as much here for less then a hand basket of groceries as you would for a cars load in Santa Fe. Like most stores here seems like they have a captive market of college students, and people who think they are saving money by not going to any of the actual chain groceries in santa fe. The selection of produce is limited and they charge far to much for everything except bulk grains, legumes, and honey. Staff is so so. Sometimes they are quite nice, otherwise they have a very "special" attitude, as though they are doing the community a favor just being there. The farmers market nextdoor on weekends feels like a insiders group. The selection and prices are a joke compared to the Santa Fe farmers market. Like most businesses in Las Vegas, Semilla seems to target the less then able to travel and take full financial advantage of them. College students or townies who cant afford to drive to Santa Fe, spend way too much money here thinking that they are supporting a local business and saving money. If you have a hundred dollars to spend you might be able to get some dairy and some potatoes. Money would be better spent on the trip to Santa Fe as you could easily stock up on several items for the trouble...

This is a small co-op style health food store, where you'll find essential healthy food but not a large selection of anything especially vegetables. They focus on organic food and a decent selection of supplements, and a larger refrigerated section than you might expect. Prices are high but that's to be expected, as a small store they can't get those big bulk discounts. There isn't anything else around that's comparable (Santa Fe has better health food stores but it's 60 miles away) so it's nice they're here to serve the local health...

Owner jumped through hoops for me and I can't thank her enough. Family member in Las Vegas, NM had covid and I wanted to get Quercetin and Zinc to him fast as possible and he was alone and could barely walk and I'm in Chicago. In comes the Semilla heroes that delivered it to his door in around 10 minutes. That's Service! Thanks you so much again Semilla (Arianna I think?). BTW - Amazon would have taken 6 days...
