They don’t seem to respond to reviews so I doubt they will see this but if you are disabled DO NOT visit this store.
Their aisles are not wheelchair accessible if you are an independent wheelchair user. Luckily I had my partner there to help push me and help with tight spots but we still got stuck or had to avoid entire parts of the store.
I’m incredibly disappointed and not just with the accessibility. I’d heard such good things about this store but inside it is dingy. The atmosphere is stagnant and terrible. None of the service workers show you kindness or greet you when you come in.
The products they display are overpriced or fakes. The vibe was very much fake designer at a swap meet. I mean they literally do admit to selling fake copies of Pokémon games as reproductions so that right there should tell you all you need to know about their business practices.
I bought what I had in my hands and left halfway through the trip because I was tired of trying to navigate the store and I’m not rude enough to make an employee put back every tiny thing since they were items I wanted. I do regret spending my money thought and they set off a fraud alert on my credit card which leads me to believe fraud is consistent at their store.
The icing on the cake was when we were trying to leave. The white female with black hair at the front who helped us check out watched, slack-jawed and drooling, as we struggled to exit their door that was almost too small for my wheelchair. She was standing and appears to have a working heart and working legs. It’s good customer service and common courtesy to open the door for a customer leaving your store if they are disabled.
I cannot stress enough how much you should not spend your money here. Support Retro City...
Read morePokémon cards are great! One of the only shops that carry singles for sale. It’s a good place to shop for a deck etc.
They also have an extensive And impressive board game and Funko pop selection and a massive selection of video games.
Cons :
No matter how much the purchase, it’s .50 charge for all credit card purchases and you must show ID. I am aware merchant processing gets higher transaction percentages with credit. But half a dollar is way too much. You may want to think about changing merchant processing services that can offer you lower rates. .50 cents seems like your paying for the charge, plus making money on the deal and it’s unfair to customers.
Pricing out mostly on point, other than certain Pokémon boxes And sets that are being sold double the retail price. Celebrations bought at game stop (45) at your shop (79). However, I think the cards are falling in price again so it’s leveling out.
Pros!
What I said above, but also my son, left his tiny book of Pokémon cards at the shop one day. The employees were nice enough to actually look up my account, find my phone number, call me, hold it behind the counter, and gave it back to us. It made his day and you guys are amazing for that. They even flipped through every page to ensure the cards were still in tact and accounted for . It was very sweet and I’ll never forget it.
Phone service could be a little more customer service oriented however, as I couldn’t get even a ballpark price on the phone for a game system . I understand you need to see it. You guys just didn’t have to contradict me and be smart about the process.
Have a fantastic day. I will for sure shop here again and I hope this helps people that are interested in...
Read moreCame to Las Vegas on vacation and was looking for a good collectible shop that carried old Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I found this place highly rated on google and their website had many cards I was interested in, when I went in I instantly picked out a handful of cards and asked the prices for each. Some were fair others were high considering their condition was listed as NM but clearly Werent. When I asked the employee helping me what condition he looked up he seemed insulted as if I had implied he didnt know what he was doing and I was implying he got it wrong. The cards in particular that he came back with had prices that were 2-3x what they should be valued at and when I told him I think that he got the wrong price he asked if I was calling him a liar (lol) he explained where he took the price from and proceeded to say he took the 3rd price from the top as if he was saving me some money. The card in question is $40-$50US on both T&T and TCG player and has been that price for some time, he came back with a $115US price and proceeded to find higher prices listed on ebay to justify his price. Would not recommend buying old cards here as they seem to not have a grasp of condition and where to find the correct price of a card. Was easily going to spend $300-$400US on the cards I wanted but instead bought only a few cheaper cards. I will not come back when I return to vegas. Would give 0 stars if I could absolutely abysmal experience and that particular employee should not be...
