Their selection of cards, board games, and manga is great. We spent a long time in the store just looking around having a good time.
However, we weren't happy with how they handle their prices and their higher value items. They charged more for some of their cards to match Market Price, which I somewhat understand. However they have a direct line to order cards at a lower price, whereas everyone else does not. So selling brand new products for Scalper Prices just rubs me the wrong way.
We also bought 3 high value video games ($100+). The prices weren't in the case for these games for some arbitrary reason, so we asked the price and got told the wrong price for one of them initially. Annoying, not a huge deal though. We also didn't get to see the discs, or the contents inside the case before purchasing, so we incorrectly assumed that these games were Complete in Box. But only one of the games were. We assumed they were complete because they were charging higher than Complete in Box Market Prices, but in reality they were just price gouging. Two out of three of the games were also fairly smudged/scratched, so I'm going to be rushing through them to see if they even work at all at this point.
They also had at least 5 people working and one person at every counter, but it was still very difficult to get anyone's attention.
Just honestly not super well run as a whole. Great place for board games I guess but anything else, expect to pay more than you'd like and be unhappy...
Read moreI'll start of with the important part is the lady who was there the last 4 times I've visited is unacceptable in a retail environment. I have a niche hobby and this store is about the only place I can go within a 30 minute drive to get supplies for. The other options are hours, so I've been frequenting this place for years. Used to be the Mass street location and I never once had issues but at this new location the customer service has made me switch to completely online. The first time I went in to buy some kits and a box of pokemon cards for my girlfriend and as I was ringing up a purchase over 200 dollars I jokingly said "running any lunch specials today?" And she responded extremely loudly and rudely "we have never and will never run sales or discounts on our items." Which I know isn't true because I've bought lots of stuff during your guy's sales and I wasn't even being serious. We left shortly after but the next time we went in (about a week and a half later) she was there again and we heard her on the phone being extremely rude with someone. After hanging up she then began berating the person on the phone and literally called them "that one rd (offensive slang for a disabled person) who comes here" and then proceed to continue to berate how they talked on the phone and asked about too many prices. Every time since then that we've been there and this employee is working she's unprofessional, rude, and offensive. It's not okay to be calling people Rd...
Read moreWe went to the store Dec 26th and one of the female workers was not a pleasant person to be around. We were uncomfortable just being in the vicinity.
A mentally challenged young man was asking questions. He repeated himself a few times, and made some comments that made no sense, as sometimes handicapped people do. She was being very short with him while he was asking questions about prices. Yes the price is labeled on the front, however to publicly say it outloud in the tone it was done clearly embarrassed him. He apologized, and repeated a question he had already asked. She bluntly said "you already asked me that" which embarrassed him further. He apologized again said he tends to repeat himself. She said it's OK, but the tone clearly made it sound like it wasn't.
Idc what the history is with the customer. A worker shouldn't behave that way. Having a bad day doesn't excuse treating people like that.
I still love the store and can't wait for the game play lobby to open. Huge EDH fan so I'm ready. The gentleman who helped was very nice, but my wife and I were already not happy with the overall experience. I hope we just misjudged the situation. I hope that the young man isn't completely turned away from...
