First off, I absolutely love Ulta and their products. Living in Lawrence, I now do not have to travel half an hour to Overland Park to get to Sephora and I personally like Ulta's products and prices better. However, I have only had two positive experiences out of the four times that I have been here. The positive ones involved great customer service, greeted at the door, asking if I needed help finding anything, helping me pick out a foundation that matched my skin tone. This was my first negative experience: I picked out an eyebrow pencil and went up to the only cashier. Someone was in front of me, I have no idea what was going on, but the cashier paged up the manager who was helping another customer. The other customer and I stood there for at least 10 minutes until I heard the manager tell the customer, "I'm sorry I need to go up front now, I'm the only manager on duty." Believe me, I know what it is like being the only manager on duty trying to run a store AND a warehouse, but that was pretty unprofessional to hear that, especially coming from across the store since the music was not on. The manager finally came up and it took 30 seconds to fix whatever the problem was. Their employees need more training or are understaffed. My second negative experience was recently during their 21 Days of Beauty. Amazing deals every day for 21 days. I went in one of those days, was greeted at the door and went right up to her and asked if they had the color correcting cream. She rudely asked, "Umm what brand?" I figured everyone was asking about this item since it was the item of the day on sale so I didn't think I needed the specifics.. I replied, "Umm, I don't remember, the one on the 21 day sale?" She led me right to it before I was even done speaking. I will still shop here because 2/4 times isn't awful, but I would like to see their customer...
Read moreIt is 6/4/18 and I just went to this Ulta around 6:00PM to get a cologne for my boyfriend and the staff is absolutely rude. There was two brunnetts girls and one male who all seemingly had to help one customer find a lotion. None of them greeted me or asked if I needed help and even squeezed by me so they could get the "fun ilse" where everyone was hanging out. Both brunettes gave me dirty looks, possibly because I did have some dirt on me since I just got done helping my dad dig fence post holes, but that doesn't effect the money I planned on spending in the store. After about 10-15 of me being in the store and wondering around trying to find Unforgivable by Sean John, which they did not have, one of the girls asked me if I needed help. By that point I had already found Boss by Hugo Boss, so declined her petty ass question. I know many people may say, well why didn't you just ask? The staff is GETTING PAID TO SELL THINGS not to socialize. When I went to check out no one was up front and had to wait for someone to notice that I wanted to check out. One of the brunettes checked me out and told me that neither my mom or me had accounts with them even though we have been going to Ulta since about 2007 and I am 21 now.... I work at hospital and while I know retail is quite different, customer service should always be number one. In my professional opinion, I think all of them should be fired because they obviously don't know why they are being payed. Side note: My receipt says Alexandra...
Read moreI got my makeup done here for prom and the artist was nice however I left looking terrible. She caked my face in layers upon layers of foundation and my face ended up looking like a sponge. The contour was way too harsh and barely blended and she applied orange eyeshadow all over my eyelid up to my eyebrow, which looked nothing like the photo I showed her which was much more subtle and rosy. She also used her fingers for most of the blending and if I would have known I would have brought my own beauty blender. To top it off she didn't glue my eyelash on all the way and it was poking me in the eye every time I blinked. When I got in the car and got a closers look I felt so overdone and embarrassed and there was no way I would have gone to prom looking like this. As soon as I got home my family laughed at how awful it looked and I wiped it off and did my own makeup for prom and it looked so much better. Crisis averted although this experience made me late and waste $45. I would recommend not getting your makeup done at Ulta although the lady did do a good job...
