Pros:

  1. One of the best city parks I’ve ever gone to
  2. Very spacious
  3. Lots of waking and biking trails
  4. Public tennis courts (4 minimum - 6 including the pickle ball dual-purpose courts)
  5. Public pickle ball courts (4 realistically - 8 theoretically)
  6. Public basketball courts (1.5)
  7. Has a water park (costs $6 child $8 adult) within it - but sometimes only open to leawood residents
  8. Has a public playground
  9. Has a public off-leash dog park
  10. Has many soccer fields and a baseball field (have to reserve them via the website)
  11. Various usable pagodas with benches and tables
  12. Public beach volleyball net (minus the beach)

Cons:

  1. Lake appears to sometimes algae over...

During the summer there is hardly any shade (except for under the play equipment, and the lunch/picnic pavilion located right outside the playground fence). The playground often seems crowded since the park’s footprint is quite small and there isn’t a lot of space for kids to run. It seems like a good park for 3-5 year-olds who are confident with high play equipment but don’t want to race and chase playing tag.

The rest of Leawood City Park is beautiful with its walking/biking trails, but best enjoyed when shade isn’t a...
